What would you do? Adding nights pre timeshare

I have a dilemma. We are adding 3 nights before a week long stay at Playa Linda. I'm trying to decide what we will do for the 3 nights before check in. I have narrowed it down to 3 options and will list some of my thoughts for each. I would like some opinions from this group.

    Option 1:
Renaissance - we are booked here with a great rate on the marina side that is refundable if we change our mind.
Pros: private island with flamingo pictures. Walking distance to a few restaurants we have been meaning to try.
    A new experience downtown.
Cons: can't bring drinks to the beach, can't walk back and forth from the beach (not a deal breaker for full days)
Changing hotels and not feeling settled those first few days in a new area.

    Option 2:
Playa Linda (approx same price as Renn)
Pros: We know we love palm beach. Don't feel like we lose a beach day for moving (afternoon is for watching football), we can save a little on food and drinks here with a small kitchen.
Cons: We still have to change rooms. We will miss out on a new experience.

    Option 3:
Tropicana - really low rate, we would save around $200.
We have stayed her 2 nights before.
Pros: price, kitchen, close to the grocery store, a few new to us restaurants close by. Eagle Beach which counts as 3 pros I think.
Cons: not oceanfront, still have to change hotels

For those who routinely change hotels mid trip, how is it? Am I making a big deal out of nothing? I jist don't want to lose prime beach time.
Not sure when, but we will be back

although i like renaissance marina and ocean suites...love it actually....i would pick option 2.

reason...........by day 3 i am in vacation mode (aka non stressed , off the crazy train and very settled) and th least amount of moving the better.

you CAN take a cab downtown for an evening, eat dinner downtown, visit the casino(s) and enjoy a drink at the blu bar in the renaissance.

and i love eagle beach too.
i am speaking strictly of convenience and my laziness.

I wanted to add that we did change hotels during our very first visit but I have absolutely no memory of the experience other than I know we didn't sit on the beach that day and they gave us a room with 2 double beds on our honeymoon, which was more my fault than theirs but now I know better. That whole trip was a different experience..first time out of the Usa and we were all inclusive and didn't leave the resort enough.

Tracey, we went through a similar exercise when trying to decide where to go for 3 nights at the end of our trip. We ended up booking the Rennaisance Ocean Suites. Our reasons were we wanted to experience the private island plus the Ocean Suites side has a beach so if you don't want the boat ride you don't have to. We love the West Deck, plus there are a bunch of other restaurants we haven't been able to get to, so Downtown will give us a change of scenery. We also both like the Crystal Casino.

Last year our 3 day add on was at the Radisson. I enjoyed the move because it felt like a whole new vacation. At the Divi they let you use the AI after check out so if we wanted to we could have stayed at the beach, had lunch and head up to the Radisson later in the day. It seems like Palm Beach is what you enjoy the most. Would you think of going to the Hilton for the 3 days?

No matter what you decide you'll be happy. What is most important to you? Is it the beach, restaurants, nightlife? Go from there, or you can add a new twist and stay at the Divi AI for 3 nights, check out the low rise lifestyle. We'll be there, what more can you ask for!

I think adding on at the end would have been an easier decision...already a week of relaxation then it's like starting over somewhere new. That wasn't an option for us as we are trying to maximize our vacation days by using the Thanksgiving holidays since we both get Thursday and Friday off without using our own vacation time.
DiVi will be an option I definitely discuss with Jon. Although I'm afraid getting him to the low rises will be hard enough, not sure he will compromise on all inclusive. I've seen some great responses lately on why people love the Divi AI

Peg, we definitely will stay at the Hilton again in the future but not this trip. If we go the route of changing hotels, we (translate to "I") want to try a different area.

My vote would be the Renaissance
    Reasons;
    1. You'll finally get out to the private island on a nice boat ride . You can snorkel there too
    2. Discretion is everything, bring your own drinks/ food/ snacks out (in a sippy cup)
    3. Restaurant on private island is really good, along with a Red Sail sports store
    4. Totally different vacation
    5. 2 casinos at your fingertips
    6. Ren Marketplace is really nice
    7. walk to West deck as mentioned, Also new Whilemina restaurant, Pinchos , Barefoot, LG Smith steakhouse, Hung Paradise, dunks, Starbucks, Baskin Robbins outside the door
    8. See some of downtown area and Marina area
    9. Hop on Tranquilo outside your door

    just my thoughts

More great points! Lots to think about. We have a long car ride this weekend so I'm sure this will be a hot debate.

No Tranquilo for us this time, we decided on Aruba Sunrise Atv tour with Arias.

Because I love La Cabana & the beach in front of it so much AND I love to save money I want to suggest Option 3 (Tropicana). Pizza Bob's is a fun time as is the bar with it. The Pata Pata bar at LaCabana is fun going to/from the beach.

However, I would love to stay at Renn just to experience the private island and the flamingos! Being a family of 5 we would need multiple rooms and that makes it less cost effective.

Of course, I also have a dream/plan to stay at every place on the island to truly experience all areas so I'm not a good person to ask!

Having to switch resorts this last trip was a little annoying (La Cabana to Divi Dutch) but we only stayed one night. I think we would have looked at the experience a bit differently if we had stayed longer and moving didn't signify leaving the island in my head.
Jacki ~ loving Aruba from NJ
