Where to stay???

Planning a first time trip to Aruba. Looking for recommendations for places to stay. Considering AI (Tam/Divi or ??).
Prefer oceanfront, nice beach, pool, etc.
Any help is appreciated. - Thanks

Re: Where to stay???

If you're deciding between the Divi & Tam, I prefer the Divi. A little more expensive, but I thought the resort was a bit more classy. You'd be able to use both facilities either way though. The beach was beautiful, food okay (great pizza though!), didn't step foot into the pool only because we prefer the beach, and the room was so-so. (Comparing it to the Marriott though.)

We are going back in April and trying the Wyndham AI. You could check out the websites for each and compare.

I prefer the Wyndham. Great staff, excellent restaurants, nice rooms and beautiful large freeform pool with a nice beach.

Re: Where to stay???

I have not been to Aruba before. But I am hoping to receive some feedback because I am considering a trip to Aruba at the end of May. Think this is a good time? I am also considering staying at the Holiday Inn (don't plan to be in the room much). Any recommendations on this hotel? A do or don't. I'd love to hear about any negative experiences that I could avoid.

How about renting a house? Try Anneke Gorter at anneke@setarnet.aw. She has many homes she rents out in the most prominent area of the island. She was great to us! We just got back and had an awesome time!

Re: Where to stay???

The main question revolves around whether to stay in the high-rise or low-rise area. The HI is probably one of the cheaper hotels in the high-rise area. That's where the big boys hang out (Marriott, Hyatt, etc.) Compare its price and amenities to some of the hotels in the low-rise area. Might end up liking that area better -- I know we do. You can always visit the "expensive end" at your leisure, then retreat to your cheaper, less crowded hotel.

Re: Where to stay???

Paradise Beach Villas: I have a Sept-Oct week that I cannot make this year.. it is the last week in the low season... private, quiet (when you want to be..) and noisy and fun filled.. just next door is La Cabana's 800 units.. we have 80.. Not all inclusive.. it is a timeshare condo... you get a big marble bath w. jacuzzi, a kitchen to die for.. and closeness to many restaurants. Let me know.. if interested. bh2441@msn.com
