Where to stay for a month in January ???

    Hello
We (Debbie & Tom) Are coming to Aruba for a month in January :-)
We would like your recommendations please.
Ideally we would like a villa or studio with pool, not really looking for a hotel.
Our reason for the trip is to get to know Aruba with a View to living/retiring there .
Are there any areas we should avoid for any reason?
I have found a reasonable studio with a pool in Ponton? Whats it like there ? looks a little secluded.

I am sure I will have lots of questions (sorry) but maybe make some new friends here :-)

    Thank You

    Debbie & Tom

hi and welcome to aruba.com community forum.

i have a few thoughts.........bananas apartments which is in the malmok section not too far from arashi beach, paradera park which is in paradera inland quite a way but lovely and club arias which is a few miles past the airport in savaneta. personally i know these places and can recommend them. another place i can recommend is surfside apartments...near pinchos and it is on the water and a few steps to surfside beach...unfortunately it does not have a pool.

i have friends that stay for 4 months at quality apartments which is on a side road between lings and lacabana. although lovely, their pool is tiny.

i hope others can help you in your quest.

Palma Real is in a convenient location, has two pools, is gated with 24 hour security. We have stayed there four consecutive years and find the property well maintained.

    agree with schexc
palma real is about a mile from palm beach
across the street from palma real is the valero gas station and a small strip of restaurants...(Lindas and a couple of others)

    is there parking?

Are you looking for a private pool or a community pool? A private pool (where you are the only users) will limit you to villas... we've stayed at five different villas with private pools in different residencies/neighbourhoods.

Ponton is actually part of Oranjestad so it wouldn't be categorized as secluded (i.e. it's a neighbourhood in the city).

If you'll have a car, you'll never be secluded! Everything is close!
