Wyndham vs LaCabana with 11 yr girl and 14 yr boy

We are planning a trip in June and are bringing our children ages 11 years old (girl) and 14 years old (boy). My husband and I have been to Arurba twice once we stay at the Casa Del Mar condo with cousins and then at the Radisson in Jan. 2001. Now that we are bringing our children I don't think we can afford any place different.(or can we????) Now that the kids are getting older we need two double beds and a cot. Does anyone have any info about either place and is there an arcade or anything for the kids to doat either place at night. I know there is a miniature golf place with a great Italian resturant in the back not far from both places. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed @ the Wyndam last July with our girls ages
10 & 5. The Wyndam has an arcade located just off of
the lobby. Also depending on what time of year you go
kids eat free @ all of the Wyndams restaurants(they have
a separate kids menu). I'm not sure what accomdations they
can provide with regard to bedding. We have stayed @ the
Wyndam twice and hada great time during both visits.

Chris - The Wyndham has 2-room Suites (#__02) that have sofabeds in the living room. You can request either a king size or 2 double beds in the bedroom.

www.lacabana.com You can get a condo for the price of a room. They have 1 & 2 bedrooms, pullout sofa, queen size in livingroom, kitchen, dining area. Double beds, king size beds. We are going in May for our third time. Renting off an owner for 2 weeks, just paying m-fee. Got a good airfare out of Boston, cheapest way to go. They have alot of activities. Good luck, let me know if I can be of any help. Nannette Snowing here in Vt., Aruba looking good.!!!

Nannette;
Thanks for replying. How can you rent off an owner? I also will be flying out of Boston. Can you tell me what airline, what price you got and how long ago you booked the flight? Do you go to a grocery store and use the kitchen or go out the whole trip?

I would like to thank you and everyone else for responding.

We just returned from La Cabana with our 4 children. We rented from an owner also. They have a bulletin board with rentals on their web-site. We had a 2 br lockout with an ocean view. Loved it so much we are already planning our next trip. Also flew out of Boston on US Air.

My husband went to the grocery store on arrival. I also packed a few snack and breakfast foods, coffee, sugar, etc. There is Dunkin Donuts in the resort for bagels and juice for breakfast and my 8 and 10 year olds were able to go there on their own.

If I can answer anything else, e-mail me and I will be happy to give you other suggestions.

Hi,

if it is money you want to save, i would recommend the mill resort. you just have to walk across the street to the beach. has pool etc. and restaurant and kitchen facilities.

also 1 mile inland is the coconut inn. get a one bedroom for $105.00 per night for 4 people and includes a full breakfast.

if its the beach you want, try the all inclusives at tamarjin or divi aruba beach. during june kids under 17 stay for free in same room as parents, you just pay airfare.

ALSO, hurry and check out the specials at american airlines. 35% off a vacation to caribbean if booked by march 31st and travel taken between april 15th and august 31st 2002. minimum 3 days stay. www.aa.com

i just did this. Got a GREAT price!! going to the divi aruba beach resort with two kids 14 and 15 1st week of july. it also allows you to use all the resort stuff at the tamarjin. i've been there twice already with kids. they love it, don't want to stay anywhere else when we go and have fun with games and free nightly entertainment, beach and 3 pools. kids club for under 12 yrs. of age. the bikes, sailboats, windsurfers, floats, snorkeling stuff is all included in price as are ALL meals snacks and drinks (alcohol & soft) carry no money, just wear the wristband)

stores, car rental, and de palm tours are on site and brick oven cooked pizza is great. italian restaurant at the tamarjin ids good!!!!

if it HAS to be wyndham or la cabana--take the wyndham

if any questions e-mail me if you like.

Enjoy and good luck,

Jim

Chris
This year was our ninth consecutive trip to Aruba. We have been w/kids and without. Between Wyndham, The Mill and LaCabana - hands down LaCabana. I will say this - Investigate as through as possible, you'll pick LaCabana. Then, when you get there check out the Mill, Wyndham and others. You will be quite happy and releived that you are at LaCabana. If you go to the Mill, you will be disappointed and will spend your vacation kicking yourself for not picking LaCabana. Please, let us know how it turns out.
