we are in Ruby which is a neighbourhood just up from you. IF you go straight up that road toward the golf course etc. our neighbourhood is right across the street from the Ting Wei grocery store, just past the Racquet Club and before the new gold coast complex. You know how the island is, no road signs to be had. It is Ruby 29 if you are there and in the area. There are a few pictures on Alberts website of the house, nothing fancy but comfortable for us. When do they say your house will be done? we will be in Aruba from December 19th, 2007 to February 7, 2008 Can't wait. So yes we will get together. There is also another person on this forum (acquaman) who is from Toronto i just found out, so another member of our Canada/Aruba Snowbird club.

Yes it is up that area. Terra Avilla is also in that area which is just past us. I would have preferred building more inland in a higher elevated area with cacti and rock everywhere but my husband wanted our home to be closer to the beach. we can walk there. our land is flat and a pool should not be a problem. where exactly is your home?

The caribbean palm village is that sorta pinkish bunch of buildings right? right across from the police station on that really awful intersection. We are having our pool built by Willy's Pools. Cost of about 50,000AFL, yes expensive. The big part is the digging of the hole as around our place the rock starts less than a metre under. My husband is a dirt engineer so a hole expert so we know we aren't getting ripped off on that part. Albert did all the work for the pool construction, he got 4 companies to the house when we were there in June then helped us make a decision and is now monitoring the whole process. We were also going to wait a while for the pool but a developer is now building a house right next to us and they are putting in a pool so Pete got pool envy, plus we spent almost 2 months there this winter and yes even though the ocean is so close a pool will be nice.
Sometimes the idea of having people in my house is a bit creepy but we didn't really personalize it at all (okay except for a small pair of snowshoes and some handmade Inuit gloves)(got to have some reminders in the winter of the life back home)

Hi
Nice to hear from you. We are just in the process of building our home. It will be ready in 5 months. In the beginning we were so consumed if we will rent it out or not, now as the process gets closer and closer as you know you become more "protective/private" of your home. But we are interested to rent it out for some weeks/months out of the year. We are searching for Pool companies now. BOY OH BOY ARE THEY expensive! (but you can't have a home in Aruba without a pool right?
p.s. we are building near Caribbean Palm Village next to the Police station.
