Aruba Marriott Hosts “The Morning Show With Jim and Kim”

On March 29 and 30 the Aruba Marriott hosts a 2-day live radio broadcast in New York on channel 102.7 Fresh FM. The Fresh 102.7 FM’s morning show features the popular duo Jim and Kim who launched the new program in October 2009.

Between the morning hours of 6 to 10 am on Monday and Tuesday, Jim and Kim were live on air from the beachfront Waves Bar & Grill at the Aruba Marriott Resort, promoting Aruba as a perfect vacation destination. Aruba Tourism Authority’s (ATA) PR representative Natalie Maduro was invited for a short interview, explaining a litle more about the Aruban culture and its native language Papiamento. Also, guests of the Aruba Marriott properties were encouraged to say hi to their family and friends in the New York region.

During the short 3 day visit the radio crew of Fresh 102.7 FM was able to experience the island of Aruba during a jeep & snorkel tour provided by the Aruba Tourism Authority and a magnificent welcome dinner at Marriott’s beachfront restaurant Simply Fish.

Radio host Kim Berk quickly learned to say “hopi dushi”, referring to an excellent time they’re having in Aruba. The morning show with Jim & Kim from 6-10 am reaches over 4 million listeners in the New York area on a weekly basis as well as online listeners worldwide on www.fresh1027.radio.com/shows/jim-kim. The radio station is a CBS-affiliate and usually operates on weekdays from their hometown of New York City.

Donkey Sanctuary Aruba Golf Tournament is a Success

Category Happenings     Date Monday, March 29th, 2010

On Saturday, March 27th, The Links at Divi hosted and sponsored a fund raising tournament for the benefit of the Donkey Sanctuary Aruba.  It was a 2 person, 18-hole scramble and was very successful.  Twenty-six pairs (locals and tourists) teed off at 9am.

KIA Motors donated a car for the first person to make a hole-in-one on the 7th green.  Unfortunately no one was successful but it made for a good competition.

The Sanctuary had two of their donkeys at the event.  Ban Ban, who was the donkey that started the Sanctuary 13 years ago, was there for the whole day.  He made friends with many of the golfers.  In the afternoon he was joined by one of the newest donkeys we take care of, eight-week old Truffles.  Everyone fell in love with her.  The Sanctuary had merchandise from their gift shop available for sale.

After nine holes the golfers were treated to water and chicken satay.  At the end of 18th holes, the Links provided an excellent bar-b-que for the players as well as beverages.

The prize for the longest drive went to John Every and Jolande Brinks was the prize for closest to the pin.  In the overall scoring, Angela Yanez and Don Quant placed first with Ron Moser and Giovanni van Wijk in second place.

The Donkey Sanctuary would like to thank all of our sponsors for their help to make this a very successful event.  The sponsors were: The Links, KIA Motors, De Arend, Aruba Wine and Dine, FlavorS, Century 21, Ling and Sons, Super Food, Taste of Belgium, Matthew’s, Red Sail Sports and Bingo Restaurant.  A big thank you to everyone for making this a fabulous event.

Ian Ross Names Aruba Marriott Resort His Home-Away-From-Home

After a $50 million overhaul, beachfront resort the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino has received positive guest comments about the hotel’s enhancements.

A recent post on the Orbitz blog by Ian Ross, Vice President of the Eastern Region for the well-known and popular electronic travel channel was a tremendous compliment for the resort. Out of all Caribbean islands and hotels in his portfolio, he mentions “Our Caribbean vacation destination of choice is Aruba. Our beach and home-away-from-home (for five years), is the Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino.”

With his family of 4, Ross loves beach vacations and enjoys the Marriott beach area to the fullest. “We think the Marriott has the best, cleanest and biggest beach around. As my son and I can only sit in the sun (even under the famous palapas) for only so long, there are a number of water sport activities, which we take full advantage of”, says Ross on the Orbitz blog.

The renewed Aruba Marriott Resort offers 411 fully equipped guest rooms with the newest technology, Marriott Revive bedding and the most spacious balconies in Aruba. With seven bars & restaurants on property, a free form pool, exclusive Tradewinds Club a-hotel-within-a-hotel, a Balinese-inspired spa, the 24hours excitement of the Stellaris Casino, beach fun and activities (yoga, aquaerobics, zumba, volley, bingo) for everyone, the Aruba Marriott is the playground for all generations. “We feel that it offers something for all of us, in addition to it being very comfortable and spacious”, commented Ian Ross.

Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino boasts 411 guest rooms – the most spacious on the island – each with large, private balconies overlooking the sparkling waters of the Caribbean Sea. On property, seven restaurants and cafes provide fare from light to elegant, while the largest casino in Aruba, a 6,500 square-foot spa, free-form swimming pool with cascading waterfalls and high-energy health club offer entertaining diversions. Luxury hotel-within-a-hotel Tradewinds Club is the newest addition to this beachfront resort. To obtain more information call the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino at 888-PARADISE or visit www.arubamarriott.com.

Aruba schittert op Amsterdam Golf Show 2010
