During the 20th anniversary celebration of La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club thirteen staff members were honored, presented with a special commemorative lapel pin for their twenty years of dedicated service to the resort.

Mirto Almary, Norma Bendana, Debra de Cuba, Susan Estanislao, Dolores Flores, Hector Hernandez, Edwin Hoek, Ninfa Jaranilla, Norma Lake, Andrew Naoe, Cristina Ramirez, Angel Santos and Cesar Tromp were called forward during the official part of the ceremony and praised for continuously creating memorable moments in the life of the resort guests, while always lending a helping hand and showing their care for the local community.

La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club showed off its fully renovated lobby during an elegant party commemorating the 20th anniversary of the resort. The party was nicely catered by the culinary team, entertained by guitarist Ernesto Ferro and emceed by radio personality Ruben Garcia.

The affair was hosted by resort General Manager Joe Najjar and Assistant General Manager Jessica Franken. In attendance were Aruba’s Prime Minister Mike Eman, the President of the Aruban Parliament, Paul Croes, members of parliament, members of the resort board of directors, past and present presidents of the board, board members for the Aruba Hotel & Tourism Association, executives of the Aruba Tourism Authority, directors of the Aruba Time Share Association and the directors of the Aruba Hospitality & Security Foundation, as well as members of the press.

During the short yet memorable ceremony celebrating the 20th anniversary of La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club, Bill Mosconi, President of the Board of Directors spoke briefly about the courage it took to commence renovations mid economic downturn and the great sense of satisfaction currently shared by members of the board and members of management over the results of the successful undertaking.

General Manager Joe Najjar thanked members of the board for believing in the project from the very start and authorizing the $38 million budget, as well as additional $8 million in 2012. “This is a true testament to the commitment of La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club owners to the resort and their loyalty to Aruba,” he stated.

The Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino recently held the 2nd quarter celebration; this was done with a Mexican flair. Associate dressed in ponchos and their sombreros dancing and singing to the mariachi. It was a colorful evening where more than fifty associates were recognized for their outstanding performance.

Kevin Schwab, Vice President and General Manager started the evening by congratulating all nominees.

La Cabana Beach and Racquet Club is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year with the completion of a three-year, US$36 million room renovation project that re-establishes the resort as one of the premier timeshare facilities in the Caribbean.

Local dignitaries and tourism professionals will join in the celebrations at La Cabana on Sept. 20 in the newly completed hotel lobby.

“Once called the resort ‘where dreams come true’ La Cabana has resurfaced with a bold new look and feel from the front lobby to the interior of every room,” said Willie Mosconi, president of the Board of Directors.

La Cabana Beach and Racquet Club opened officially on Dec. 15, 1990 and enjoyed immediate success in its first year of operation 20 years ago in 1991.

The Aruba Marriott invited Dr. Carlos Viana to share with the associates the importance of healthy food and the differences between popular diets. Certified Clinical Nutritionist Dr. Viana explains why he recommends the “Blood Type Diet”; what Gluten are and how they affect our health, the truth about milk products and health and elaborates on the many different types of sugars. The presentation was done to expand on healthy eating choices among the associates and to create a better understanding of the importance of healthy meals. Dr. Viana’s visit is only one of the many health related initiatives planned to raise awareness amongst the associates, in hopes this will also be passed on to the hotel and restaurant guests.

Recently, a new program was rolled out during a seminar held for all Associates of the Westin Resort & Casino, Aruba. The Associate Enrichment Program synergizes with the brand’s mission to contribute to the overall well-being of their guests. The success of the resort is directly related to its Associates, as “positive guest experiences are only possible through the impact of its associates,” which creates a mission for Westin to “strive to be a great place to work, with satisfied, engaged associates empowered to serve guests.”

The Associate Enrichment Program ties in with many of the Westin’s signature guest programs, inspiring Associates to make healthy choices to be at their best at home and at the resort.
