15 paintings by local artists around ‘dera gai’ theme
On Wednesday October 12th the first art exhibition in the Lobby of the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino opened for guests and visitors of the hotel. The exhibition, consisting of 15 paintings from local artists shows different scenes and items that portray the Aruban celebration of Dera Gai.
“The reason behind this exhibition is to give our guests a new opportunity to learn more about Aruba’s culture, art and traditions on property” General Manager Richard Zeolla explained. “Not all of our guests have the time to pay a visit to one of the various museums on the island, so that’s why we came up with this gesture of bringing art from the museum to our hotel.”
Together with Museo Numismatico and Fundacion Arte Aruba, the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino came to a unique cooperation in exchanging art and bringing art to Aruba’s visitors in new ways. Displayed in this exhibition are works by Mo Mohammed, Frank Croes, Elvis Tromp, Ephraim Britten, Alfonso de Windt, Juancho Dijkhoff, Marisol Canizales, Jani Croes, Edmond Tuyeehut, Laureen Croes, Maria Teresa Martinez and Marlene van Blarcum. All art works on display are for sale at prices starting at 300 dollars.
The free exhibition is located in the main lobby of the hotel and is open 24 hours a day, from October 12 – November 12 2005. Everybody who is interested in art and wants to have a look in the hotel lobby of the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino is invited to visit the art exhibition.
