Monday morning November 6th 2006 Her Majesty Queen Beatrix will once again visit the Airport that bears her name ‘Aeropuerto Internacional Reina Beatrix’. This visit is not just to see the latest improvements to the Aruba Airport, Her Majesty is already aware of all of that, but it is a wonderful opportunity to introduce a part of Aruba that has been lacking at our Airport and that is local art.
When the airport was renovated in 2000 it became one of the most modern airports in the Caribbean, since then slowly the flavor and taste of island has been added to our airport, but now it’s time to put art in a proper spotlight. Queen Beatrix will be the first person to see these Paintings/Art Pieces in the expo named ‘Nos Portret’ and the artists will have the opportunity to discuss these works of art with Her Majesty.
The works of Art will be on display in very visible places for at least a year and with a very large international audience, being all the passengers that travel through Aeropuerto Internacional Reina Beatrix.
Because of the Queen’s visit to the Airport the Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) has decided to make the following changes to accommodate those that are interested in being present in this, the first part of the many scheduled events that are to take place in Aruba.
- The parking lot will be open to the public for free parking from 08:00 am until 12 noon
- The main road at the Airport building will be closed, but the secondary road will be open to travelers and spectators
- The Main-Gate will be inaccessible from 08:00 to 12:00
- Some doors in the Arrival Hall will be closed, not all of them, the Airport is fully operational
- Press trucks for live transmission must also be parked in the main parking lot
- Travelers that have to fly on this morning are recommended to arrive earlier than usual for their flights
- The public is kindly asked to remain behind barricades or to follow instructions by the police and Airport Security Officers
- Cars parked in the secondary road will be towed; the area may only be used for passenger pick-up or drop off all other cars must be in the public parking lot
Peter Steinmetz, Managing Director announces: “The Aruba Airport Authority N.V. proudly invites the people of Aruba to be present at the official start of Her Majesty Queen Beatrix’ visit”.
The visit at the airport Monday morning November 6 will start on 10:00 am exactly.
