It is with great sorrow that Aruba announces the loss of one of the island’s most treasured attractions, the Natural Bridge. The 100-foot long rock bridge fell into the ocean after centuries of pounding by the surf. One of Aruba’s most photographed and cherished sights, the spectacular Natural Bridge rose 25-feet above the sea and the geological wonder was one of the Caribbean’s highest and most dramatic coral structures. The island’s most famous natural archway was carved out of the limestone coast and came to be one of the most recognizable tourist attractions in the entire Caribbean.
While locals and tourists alike are saddened by the loss of the Natural Bridge, this is part of the continually changing evolution of nature. Aruba also boasts seven other picturesque natural bridges around the island in addition to a bevy of diverse and breathtaking landmarks. Plans are already underway to pay tribute to this beloved part of the island’s history.
