Open for just two weeks, Blue Lobster’s Chef Sandro and his kitchen and dining room crew were enthusiastically welcomed by food-lovers, rewarding the chef with a full dining room, three out of the first seven nights. Guests hailing from the high rise and low rise resorts flocked to the door to applaud the culinary presentation and taste, leaving the restaurant with a promise to return.

The locals were not far behind the visitors, also eager to sample the special menu of local specialties for lunch, many of them returning with assorted family members for dinner.

The Sunset Grille Restaurant, Sunday Champagne Brunch is Back

Following an extensive refresh, the Sunset Grille Restaurant, Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa now serves Sunday Champagne Brunch every weekend from 11am to 2pm.

Director of Food & Beverage Gerard Coste released the delicious brunch menu just recently, stating that his culinary artists came up with an interesting concept combining buffet served specialties, and a la minute cooking from the exhibition kitchen.

The Ostrich Farm Proudly Presents Chef Thomas Boland

One of the most entertaining vacation activities is a visit to the Ostrich Farm, a popular stopover on most island jeep tours.

Locals and visitors enjoy lunch at the farm, as the Savana Lodge Bar & Restaurant serves a memorable African/Dutch menu, and features a well-stocked African Art Boutique.

The highlight of the visit is always the fun interaction with the resident ostriches and emus, including a trip to the incubators and the bird kindergarten, housing baby ostriches, baby emus, baby goats, baby geese, and even a cute baby pot-bellied pig!

Aruba/Harvard Workshop: Professors Meet the Press

An Aruba/Harvard Workshop dedicated to the concepts of environment, energy and developmental Sustainability was held at the Dr. Edward Cheung Innovation Center in Aruba, with key administrators, Ministers and seven noted professors from Harvard, TNO energy think tank and TU Delft, one of the leading technical universities in Holland.

The visiting professors took a brief break from the morning sessions to be introduced to local media by Prime Minister Mike Eman and Minister of Finance, Communications, Utilities and Energy, Mike de Meza.

Visit Downtown Oranjestad on Betico Croes Day – January 25

This is the second year that two museums and the Rancho Foundation joined forces to bring Aruba’s heritage and history to the island’s people.

On Weststraat, the Rancho exposition will will be held specially dedicated to the late Mr. Sint Jago with the patio beautified by Santa Rosa and typical Aruban food on sale.

His original composition, “I Believe in Miracles,” hit high on the charts in 32 islands in the Caribbean, and his CD was picked up for distribution by Tempo Records in the U.S. Those who appreciate the unique regional sound of reggae with contemporary innovations will very much enjoy this collection.

Join Friends of the Handicapped in Celebrating Their Silver Anniversary by Helping Worthy Causes

A small group of annual island visitors that make Aruba their home for most of the winter wanted to “give back” to the island which has provided them with such rewarding moments and opportunities to make friends from all over the U.S., and Aruba. 25 years ago, Friends of the Handicapped Foundation (FOTH) came into existence with the express purpose of raising money for the nume­rous organizations here that assist the mentally and phy­sically challenged, and now FOTH includes the aged and ill in their annual ceremony of award contributions.

Aruba Rocks with FAKKEL!

“Rockin’ the Fakkel” declared the tee shirts of the Aruba Trading carnival group as they made their way through the streets of Oranjestad for the inaugural parade of the 2012 Carnival season – Aruba’s 58th. Carnival is a tribute to good times, and the Fakkel rocked Aruba on Saturday night, January 7.

A bright, full moon shone down on the ten groups with their bands and followers, sometimes numbering over 1000, dancing down L.G. Smith Boulevard with this first casual, fun event finally ending well after midnight. The various groups revealed their themes for the several parades, jump-ups and contests that will take place over the next six weeks.
