The 2016 Holiday-Season opened twice, not just once, at Divi Resorts. The first holiday preview party took place on the eve of hurricane Matthew, and as a great number of people did not make it in time for the festivities, so a decision was made to host another party, a few days later, when the sun came out of hiding. This one was very well attended and much enjoyed by the select group of guests.
The Alhambra ballroom was beautifully decorated showcasing Divi's culinary excellence, and guests sampled many delicious hors d'oeuvres prepared by Divi's expanded culinary team, while enjoying live entertainment and dance music.
Violin virtuoso Angela flores was the opening act, as guests were presented with a chilled flute of Lunetta Prosecco, or Presidente Beer, courtesy of the Aruba Trading Company. Cool Pro DJ by Elite entertained between music sets, just before Tsunami took over the stage for a full-blown party.
Divi’s Food & Beverage professionals with Corporate Chef Matt Boland, and Executive Chef Anthony de Palm worked hard to present many delicacies served as shooters, tapas and small plates, including carved Coffee Crusted Tenderloin, with mashed potato, Julienne vegetables and red wine sauce; Grilled Mahi Mahi with risotto, julienne vegetables and Creole sauce; Caribbean Roasted Pumpkin Soup; Shrimp Stuffed with Crab Meat on black rice, with asparagus, saffron Sambuca sauce; and Pistachio & Herbs Crusted Lamb Lollipop, on cous cous salad, with red wine sauce.
Guests were also treated to a variety of homemade sushi, Mexican Chicken and Beef Burritos, and Seared Tuna with Seaweed, prepared by the various Divi restaurant kitchens, at Pure Ocean, Pure Beach, Fusion Wine Bar, Alhambra Ballroom, Sunset Garden Ballroom and Windows on Aruba. The menu culminated with a varied assortment of petites fours, and homemade tapa desserts.
The spectacular evening’s sponsors included Pepia Est, featuring a Drunken Watermelon Welcome Cocktail made with fresh watermelon juice infused with French Pinnacle cucumber watermelon vodka, and another Brugal dry rum and pineapple juice, cocktail, both refreshing and delicious.
The Holiday Season Opening event debuted the wines of La Cava Wine & Spirits, with quality Chardonnay, Malbec, and Sparkling wines from Finca Las Moras, in Mendoza Argentina.
Other sponsors which made the parties a great success included, Elite Sound & Light, Koolman Flower Shop, Elsa’s Flowers & Art, and MES Art Photography, with The Perfect Team Event Planners.
Guests were greeted by the Divi Executive Team, including Managing Director Alex Nieuwmeyer, Director of Banquet and Events Sales, Inge Van Roon and her team, as well as many others working for the five Divi properties on the island, namely Divi Aruba All Inclusive, Tamarijn Aruba All Inclusive, Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort, Divi Dutch Village and Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort.
