Welcome to the One happy island!
Aruba is the place to be for fashion and luxury during Aruba Fashion Week!
With more than 250 designer stores selling luxury brand apparel, jewelry and footwear, Aruba is the Caribbean’s mecca for fashion enthusiasts. But besides fashion, there is a wide variety of activities and events for the entire family to enjoy.
This is an initiative of the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) in cooperation with the most prestigious resorts on the island. It starts on Thursday, December 1st with the opening event hosted by the Ritz-Carlton Aruba. Come enjoy the sunset on the beach with all the international members of the press, local celebrities, top models, world class designers, local and international buyers, elite guests and fashionistas whom will all enjoy the runway show and the inaugural toast together.
On Friday morning, December 2nd, the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino will present the “Fashion Talks” discussion, where international and local designers, celebrities, artists, and fashion influencers and personalities will share their vision, and engage the invitees with their life stories.
On Friday and Saturday the 2nd and 3rd of December, the runways will be set up and the commercial fair at the Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino will be held.
At this fair, the traveler is offered a shopping mall and networking opportunities to explore the latest trends in global fashion. Designers, commercial brands, franchises and emerging talents will present their products and collections. This creates a space where direct contact can be made with potential consumers and alliances can be made with local and Caribbean buyers and the entire Aruban business sector. This is the ideal opportunity to receive legal advice on trademark registrations, tax advice and all the information necessary to evaluate the options for joining the growing and thriving market in Aruba.
Every exhibitor presents their brand at their respective stands in a creative way to attract buyers and market their fashion on a global scale.
We are proud to announce that we will have prestigious designer Gigliola Gómez as Aruba’s fashion representative showing her creations on the runway. She has received recognition for her talent on a local level, and now she is positioning herself on global fashion centers. Her designs are known for the colorful and floral prints that are influenced by Aruba and the Caribbean as a whole. During the summer of 2015 she made her debut in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Amsterdam, where her Caribbean Spring collection made a big impact. She has also presented her new collection at the New York Fashion Week in September of this year.
Aruban artist Elisa Lejuez will also be present showcasing her unique scarves. This local exhibitor has received recognition for her work in textile design and mixing fashion with art in her collections using fabrics with contemporary prints, also referred to as “neo pop”, using vibrant colors and technological elements mixed with serigraphy. Lejuez-Peters has participated in numerous expositions in the Dutch Caribbean as well as in Miami and Amsterdam.
Among the international talents that will present their collections on the runway, we have the great Custo Barcelona creator of the popular shirts emblazoned with original and fashion forward designs. Their success was achieved partially by the number of celebrities who have worn the shirts publicly, and the mentoring of leading fashion stylists who have started the “Customania” phenomenon that is now taking Aruba by storm.
Silvia Tcherassi is another guest of honor. With her professional studies in interior design, an honorary title in fashion and design and over 25 years of experience in the fashion and lifestyle field, Silvia is one of the most critically acclaimed fashion icons in Latin America, and a role model for the next generation of creators. She was the first Latin American designer to be invited to Milan and Paris Fashion Week, and now she is coming to Aruba.
Great designers of countries including the United States, Venezuela and Colombia and will be joining the aforementioned guests to surprise spectators with their runway presentations.
The last day will be very special. Sunday, December 4th will be dedicated to Aruba. The Aruba Fashion week attendees will be able to enjoy various activities on island. It will be the ideal ending to the Fashion show, to consolidate contracts, have fun, enjoy the sun and take in the beautiful landscape of Aruba.
The Aruba Fashion Week will be full of opportunities for lovers of fashion and luxury travel to explore new business opportunities!
