Grand Carnival Parade in San Nicolas

This is a prelude to the Grand Carnival Parade. Local musicians create an exceptional ambiance in San Nicolas by playing their latest carnival hits to the delight of hundreds of marchers dressed in resplendent costumes. The town of San Nicolas enjoys a distinct Caribbean flavor created in part by the language, music, food, and tradition of Carnaval brought to it in the 1930s by British Caribbean immigrants recruited to work at the town's then-booming oil refinery. Beautifully decorated themed floats accompanied by their floor members dance and parade through the streets of San Nicolas until sunset. This parade starts at 12:00 p.m. in San Nicolas.
