After reading about this company and the show Mary Wilson, I was so excited to go and see her during our trip to Aruba. As soon as I got to Aruba I started to enquire about the shows (originally I wanted to go on Dec. 27th) but I couldn't get anyone to give me proper information, including the box office at the Crystal Casino. Finally, I was told that I couldn't book anything until Dec. 23rd (we arrived on Dec. 15th). I got a group of friends together and we finally decided on Jan. 1st and through more confusion finally got 6 tickets. This company was heavily advertising in Aruba Today about their numerous shows and made a big article when Mary Wilson arrived on the island on Dec. 26th.

Well, the day of Jan. 1st arrives and at 3pm there is a message in our room that the show was cancelled!!!! We were very upset and when we called we were told that the only date available was Jan. 2nd. Unfortunately, we already had plans for that night so this option was not good for us. We met people on the beach who had also booked the show for Jan. 1st and were very upset about the cancellation.

On our flight home we were reading the Aruba Today and there was an article about the great success of Mary Wilson and what a fabulous show she put on. We were devastated, especially when they mentioned the final show on Jan. 3rd!!! We were never told about a show on the 3rd as we could have gone to that show.

We were left feeling frustrated and dissappointed with this company. We really looked forward to the success of Showtime Aruba as this seems to be something that will definately add to the nightlife of Aruba. However, if the company doesn't get better in its organizational skills it may not last long enough for us to go and see a show next year!!

Randi, is it possible you were not offered tickets for the 3rd because it was already sold out?

Possible but not probable?? They had booked shows Dec.26, 27,28,29,31 (I think) Jan. 1,2,3,4,5,6 as advertised. I believe that a lot of these shows were not full so they combined them and deleted shows. We booked the general admission for $75 but there was $105 tickets for the first 5 rows and then dinner and reserved seats for $125. Many shows did not have anywhere near full capacity. It would have been nice to have let us no prior to 3pm on the day of the show. It just so happened that we went up to our room for something and saw the message light. Usually, we don't go up until 6pm!!!

It was just not good P.R. to have done this in the manner in which they did it. I understand the concept of combining shows but a little more advance notice plus more than one night should have been offered to us.

Just left us with a bad feeling!:(

Hi Randy,

Sorry to hear about your tickets!

That is lousy and I can imagine that it was an inconvenience, esp during the Holiday Week. :(

However, I am SURE if you bring this to the attn of the nice people who are operating the show that they will make this up to you! I am certain of this!

I personally wldnt hesitate to recommend their great shows and have been doing so ever since I got to see Mary Wilson's Show and thought it; outstanding! So nice to see something new!

I think you hit a first week / opening - snaf-oooo and wld imagine this is an isolated incident.

I will bring your message to their attn!

Sorry again!

I am very jealous!! We were dying to see Mary Wilson, glad it was a good show. Aruba really needs this type of entertainment so I am glad they are trying.

As far as first week troubles, Jan. 1st wasn't the first week (I will give them and gave them a "mulligan" when I couldn't get any information the week of Dec. 17th). Unfortunately, when we spoke with them about the Jan. 1st cancellation they didn't offer us anything for our troubles. That would have been the time for the company to step up to the plate when we told them that we couldn't attend Jan. 2nd as our plans had been made already for that night. When you book a show almost a week in advance during a busy time of the year, rearranging dinner etc is not easy to do with only 24 hours notice. Many restaurants you need to quarantee with a credit card and you can't just cancel.

ok, do I sound a little bitter? Well, yes, we were more than a little disappointed and put off.

I have to say I am a little nervous....I ordered tickets online almost 2 weeks ago for the comedy show in February. I received a confirmation # and it said I would also receive a confirmation e-mail. I haven't gotten it....I e-mailed them last week and still no response. I tried calling them today several times I get their recording with the options, when I press the option the line goes dead! I will try calling again tomorrow. The charge was put on my mothers credit card, I am going to have her call her company to see if it has gone thru. Any suggestions out there?

One of the organizers of Showtime Aruba contacted me personally about my posting. Hopefully, he will see what you wrote and get in touch with you. If you don't get a response I can send you the email he wrote me on.

My other suggestion would be to contact the concierge or depalm tours AT YOUR HOTEL. Depalm tours is an authorized dealer for Showtime Aruba.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Well, I tried again today a few times to call, once I hit the option I was disconnected. I then sent another e-mail and received a phone call within 5 minutes!! I was thrilled, everything is fine, the man apologized, and could not have been nicer! I believe his name was Brett. PHEW~

I just went on their website, looks like ALL SHOWS have been cancelled...anyone know whats going on?

Randi

I would love to know what is going on too! It started out with such promise, people were talking about it and were very excited about it when I was in Aruba. They had/have a good line up of performers. This was going to be a really good addition to the nightlife of Aruba...so sad.

When going over the list of performers and the number of nights they were going to perform perhaps they were a little too ambious. Less performances per performer and then you get a larger audience.

Well, let's wait to hear what has happened!

Could you explain that more? What do you mean show cancelled? Are all their shows cancelled or just this particular show, is the company disbanded????

Thanks for the help.

I was too Cindy!!! I can't believe it! Randi it is ALL shows, I tried to randomly get tickets for anything on the website and you can't. What kills me is I TALKED to the guy less than 24 hours before this happened!!

I don't know if it is all shows??:confused: I was hoping Cyclone productions would have the answer as I really wasn't sure what he was saying.

Brett contacted me directly and asked if there was anything he could do to make up for our unfortunate incident....this is surprising!!!

Hopefully, someone can give us some information on this company!!

Randi,
You are being a good guy thru this whole thing. The whole thing was wrong. That was nice though that Brett tried to make amends. Lets see what comes in the future. It sounds like there are a ton of disappointed people out there. I can clearly remember doing a on-line survey answering questions on what kind on entertainment Aruba needed...SO much for that. I quess the ole saying"stay tuned" really applies here. Bummer, huh..I really was hoping for a good show at nite...

I really didn't want to come down too hard as I was REALLY hoping that this business venture would succeed. It was such an amazing idea with such great promise and I am so sad that, apparently, this company closed before it even started.:(

Honestly, this is such a good idea that some one should pick this up and run with it. People are really interested in going to good shows in the evening in Aruba. Most evening entertainment revolves around dinners. Perhaps having these types of shows during different times of the year but not necessarily every night would be fantastic.

We were speaking with a business person in Aruba and we suggested that a nice club aimed at young adults ages 18-25 might be an interesting idea. The person told us that he in fact wanted to do this but the government is very strict on these type of licences. On the side of the government, they want to be very careful on what and how many night clubs they have in Aruba (not a bad thing).

Oh well, let's hope we hear more good things about Showtime Aruba!!!

We were speaking with a business person in Aruba and we suggested that a nice club aimed at young adults ages 18-25 might be an interesting idea. I personally would hate that idea - I wouldn't want Aruba to become a mecca for Spring Breakers. Once one club would make it, many others would follow.

I totally agree with you that I don't want a place for spring breakers....however, it would be nice for our young adults to have a place to enjoy. Personally, I have a 18 year old who has been coming with us to Aruba since he was young. He would love to have a place to go to in the evening where it is more suited for people his age. Finding that balance..........

Wouldn't it be nice if that guy, Brett Malone, would make a comment on this Website about the status of Showtime Aruba? We know he looks on this site as he has responded many times both on the BB and through private messages. So Brett, let's have the scoop....:feedback:

I spoke to Steve Hudson (showroom coordinator for Crystal Theater and producer of Let's Go Latin) and we did a short, short item in THE NEWS. Just saying the Showtime Aruba had cancelled all shows, they are working on other plans, and we would soon hear about a new production at the theater.
Steve said both shows were excellent, but just did not bring in the crowds the organizers had expected and they were working on other plans now...
I have to give him a call later this week for a little update.

Thank you so much for the update. ;) From a "lay" person's perspective, I think that bringing in shows is a fabulous idea but if you want a full audience you should have less shows to choose from. As I stated before, Mary Wilson is the perfect example, it would have been better to have had less shows and had them full....you know what I mean.

The other issue for this company, is proper P.R. with competent staff who can give out proper information or you loose potential customers. Showtime Aruba has no idea how many customers they may gained had their staff been up to par.

I wish then TONS of luck because I would like to see them take this concept and do a good job. For people who come back yearly (or more often) the idea of looking forward to a new show each year/time is exciting.

GOOD LUCK!!!!:)
