Hi everyone, This april is our 11th visit to aruba, and our 20th anniversary. My husband wants to renew our vows...I am not sure of how this all will play out...no, not my marriage, the renewal event. Anyway, we're staying at Renaissance with 27 other family members so the group is perfect.

My questions are:
1. Whom do we use to the vows? Lisa suggested Rev Gibson..he hasn't returned emails....
2. What do we do after the vows thing...suggestions???

We don't feel lke spending a ton of $$$ on this little thing.

I need some suggestions from anyone that might have done this already.
We're going in 58 days so I have to get moving on this thing.

Thanks to all in advance....cindy o

i would give rev. gibson another email and see if he replies.
if no reply
i would contact the conscierge at the renaissance suites and ask what they suggest and also PM karen lutzker here on this forum to see if she has suggestions.
or
google "do it yourself wedding renewal vows"

after the vows...........have a huge picnic no that small manmade beach right there at the suites. are there bbq gas grills there?

Ny husband's idea is on again, off again, on again...go figure. I think he thinks someone from the front desk is jsut going to stroll down to the beach area, say a few words, and we're done. NO....I don't think so. The location at the lagoon is perfect, all of our relatives are there, so who knows whats up. No. unfortunately there are no pits or grills there. Can't have open fire. At the rate we're going it'll be during the bingo games...
Haha!!

a few years ago at easter vigil mass in Florida, i had just finished a huge fight/argument with paul. i was BULL and should not have even been in church with the attitude that i had. anyway, the priest asked all married couples to come up and renew their vows. i chose not to. paul and i skulked outta the church feeling pretty crappy. another reason added to the list of why i am going to hell.

the bingo game renewal sounds like it could be a "go"

Hello:

My wife and I have been coming to Aruba 12 years now and have a timeshare at the Renaissance Ocean Suites. We renewed our vows about 6 years ago. We are Episcapalions. We renewed them in San Nicholas at the Episcapol church. The priest was very nice. We then ate out at a nice resturant. Good Luck

Try contacting Indira at Aruba Fairy Tales
She did my wedding and does vow renewals as well. She can keep the price down to what you want - just tell her what you want to spend - and do something simple beach side. Maybe renew vows on the water and then a champagne toast then some appetizers on the beach at the Divi Phoenix- its fairly private. Reverand Gibson did our wedding and works with her so she will have no problem getting in touch with him.
I did everything over email and it worked out perfectly - 52 people - we had the vacation of a lifetime!

My husband and I renrewed our wedding vows on the beach at sunset for our 40th and 45th wedding anniversary. We just celebrated 48 years and are planning our 50th wedding vow renewal again, on the beach at sunset with our children and grandchildren. We met at 16 and got married at 18. Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be extra special. You love Aruba and so do we :) Anything you plan will be lovely! How many years??

Twenty years for us.....we might not make it past that with this renewal of vows...on again, off again, on again...the big question hubby has is, "how much is this costing me"? Well, I said, it couldn't be to important to you if you have to ask that question. So as it stands now, he will be renewing his vows at Dunkin Donuts to his coffee.

Well, thats a thought, and a good one at that. Wedding favors...DD travel mugs, munchkin wedding cake....all for 5 a person. I am sure we can cram 26 of us in that little dunks at the renaissance mall and I am sure aruba today would come to take our picture. "Titled theatre of the absurd"...
No, seriously, we heard from Rev Gibson, had the wrong email to begin with, and he gave us a good price, so folks, I am thinking we might go for this. Our neighbors are in too, for their 10th. Karen Lutzer was kind enough to send me some great shots of her renewals and also gave me some other advise...so, hey, it might work. All we need now is a location, cake, bouquet, champagne and some kind of food....

I just enjoyed reading this post and am thinking... this is what my vow renewal is going to be like... and I've only been married three years (this March 17, we got married on the day that my husband's grandfather would have celebrated his 100th birthday, unfortunately he passed away at 98). My brother could not come, was to be the "padrino" (godfather - in papiamento, what you know as Best Man) and we postponed the blessing ceremony...
Ah well.
NOW: Congrats and
*May I suggest: a vow renewal at Coco Beach in the Colony in the afternoon, have the Briesen family prepare a toast and nice snacks, maybe even a BBQ?
!!!Try also Rev. Osborne, I also love his ceremonies!!!
*I once did photos for a couple who had a dear friend lead their vow renewals in the garden at the Marriott, we did sunset photos and they went off to dinner.
*Do a renewal on the beach at sunset, have snacks/early bird dinner at La Terraza on the terrace (contact Mitzy at 5836046 for a special menu) and head for partying to Sr. Frog's or Mambo Jambo. All walking distance from the Renaissance.)
Other interesting sites for a renewal: the watertank at Alto Vista at sunset, the view is also amazing, the Wilhelmina Park downtown Oranjestad, the palapa in front of the Governor's house in Oranjestad (the two last ones are at a stone's throw from your hotel.)
Happy organizing!

Hi, I just happened to see Diane Keijzer today (she's one of my favorite photographers, did all our family photos since I was little) and she reminded me that she is also a beach wedding reverend. I had forgotten. Here are her new numbers, 5887011 and 7415017, let me know how things work out.

I must thank all of you for your great suggestions and advise with this renewal thing. The good news is I don't think we have to do it at the Dunkin Donuts at the Renaissance Mall. NO toasts for me with my coffee...the bad news is the Renaissance property owners won't let us do it on the beach, laggoon, or private island with someome other than their " wedding person". Which means $750. Even though we are timeshare owners it doesn't matter. So,we are going to go with Reverend Gibson at some other location.
Go figure....with the Renaissance, we're owners, I rave about the place every chance I get, and we get this response. We can't even use the lagoon for 30 minutes...

Cindy, that is just awful. You are right, it does not say much for the Ren, except that they are greedy! Thank God for public beaches in Aruba! I am sure you will have no problem selecting a terrific location. :)

It was a pleasure offering suggestions and sure you will enjoy Rev Gibson's wedding ceremony. I was not aware that he is also a wedding planner offering wedding services besides officiating at weddings. In any event, best of luck to you Cindy :-)

Karen, he's not a wedding planner, he just suggested places that he had done before. He left it with us to choose what we felt was best. He is offering us no other services if that is what you meant. We have chosen to bring our own silk flowers, no cake, and walking to our original dinner reservations that we had made months ago. All we are doing is a quick 30 minute ceremony with another couple and off he goes....

My fiance and I are using Indira Madur w. Fairy Tales Weddings. She is absolutely fantastic and so helpful with planning any type of ceremony that you may want.
