With most schools in the US back in session, The Surf Club
should not have alot of families.
Do you know if this is true?

We go every year the last two weeks of August. We usually have stayed at the Ocean Club for the two weeks. But the last couple of years we've split between the Ocean Club the first week and then the Surf Club the second week. I will have to tell you that the Surf Club will be crowded. Believe it or not a lot of US schools do not go back to school until after Labor Day. The lazy river is a big attraction so it gets crowded later in the day. This year we are staying at the Ocean Club for both weeks. It's quieter and the kids have had enough of the water slide and lazy river at the Surf Club. If I can give you any other tips just let me know.

My wife and I met a couple at Charlie's Bar who were staying on the Marriot property this week and they indicated it was "sold out," adding that the entire place was "very crowded." I think it will only get more crowded (if that is possible) as the month progresses.

We just got back from the Surf Club. It was crowded. Last year we went the last week in August just before the kids went back to school. It wasn't as crowded then. Next year we might pass the summer completely and go in the fall.

if you're not a marriott timeshare owner, can you still use their pool facilities - i.e. the lazy river? i'm staying at the stellaris. earlier this year we met a couple that was swimming in the stellaris pool due to overcrowding at their surf club.

Unfortuantely, surf club owners have to wear bracelets, or fortunately for owners I should say...if you don't have a bracelet on be prepared to be tossed out of the pool....so the answer to your question is NO, you can't use the lazy river....Security watches the pool like hawks.....

We spoke with our timeshare sales rep last year and he said that they plan on building two additional pools for use by the guests of the hotel. Because the Surf Club and Ocean Club are pretty much at 100% occupancy they need the additional pools. He said that they did not anticipate the facilities being at 100% so quickly, but they're addressing the problems. I guess being so popular does have its' headaches. But I would not stay at any other property. We love the Marriott and the staff has always been top notch.
