According to flightaware.com, the flight from Boston arrived in Philly at 7:12 and the flight to Aruba departed at 7:44

He should have had time to make that connection.

the walk from where the usair boston flight gates in philly is about 30 minutes at a fast pace to the gate where the aruba flight leaves.

they would have had to run or to take one of the golf cart shuttle thingys

or i could be wrong............hope so!

Unless you come in at an express gate (F terminal), there is no way that it takes 30 minutes to get to the gate. Even something like C31 to A26 is no more than 10 minutes.

iin the early 2000s we usually flew bos-philly-aua on usair 2x a year.

also too flew that route in 2007.

we always had a long walk from gate to gate.

once 20something of us from the boston flight did not make it to the aruba flight gate in time and we had a 45 minute window.

usair in philly sent us all on a commuter jet to charlotte and we got to aruba a little late but there nonetheless.

so unless they have changed the layout and the gate arrival and departure spots i respectfully disagree.

typically we fly American Air so i have no latest/current knowledge on the Philly gate locations.

I'm not saying it isn't a long walk, just not the marathon that is being suggested here. I'm in that airport several days a week and I have walked from the McDonalds at the end of the A terminal to the F terminal, including going through security again at the F terminal in less than 30 minutes. If you had 45 minutes on the ground and didn't make it, there has to be something else that happened. I'll walk it again tomorrow as I'll be there for 2.5 hours or so with nothing else to do.

Sorry everyone! Didn't have a chance to access a computer in Aruba and just arrived home last night!

We missed the connection in Philly because the plane had to be de-iced. Even with car trouble on the way to Logan, we arrived in plenty of time to board our flight. Left the gate on time, but were delayed by about 1/2 hour because of the de-icing ritual!

Arrived in Philly at terminal A and were departing from terminal C - so never would have made the connection with the 8 minutes we had to spare. They actually let the PHL-AUA flight depart 5 minutes early! Darn - I was ready to sprint for the gate to try and make it.

But USAir was waiting for about a dozen of us who should have been on that flight. They had printed up new boarding passes and put us on the flight connecting through CLT to AUA. While it wasn't the flight schedule I would have picked (!!!), it all worked out.

Now we're back home - not enjoying this frigid weather - and trying to reacclimate ourselves and get back into our normal routine.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and concerns! Sorry I didn't get online while in AUA - guess it's time to buy the laptop I've been meaning to get!

Wow...the time flew even for those of us at home. Sorry you had such a tough time getting there....but glad you finally got there safely.

One year....we missed a connection and got in at 10:30 PM instead of the scheduled 2:00. We do everything we can to go non-stop since then.

Thanks, RobO. Yes, hubby and I have discussed the non-stop flights and if we fly from Boston again, we will make every effort to do that. Our preferred airport is BDL, but sadly no non-stops from BDL, plus they are typically, more expensive. :( After this last experience, however, believe me ... non-stop will be high priority from now on!!
