5 dress Shirts
5 Shorts
5 beach shirts
3 swim trunks
2 pair socks

Bill your list looks pretty good to me I do about the same just a little less since I am only 6 nights. I never pack undershirts unless I bring a dress up outfit. I pack more toiletries then anything, my DW calls me metro Mark, she says I am a little to metrosexual. Good hygiene isn't so bad though is it?

We are getting closer brother. ;)

Hey Bill,

Where are you leaving out of? We are leaving Nov 27th out of Philadelphia and going to Aruba for 9 days as well. I've started to pack as well and my suitcase is full already and I haven't put my PJ's, and workout clothes in the suitcase. Thanks for asking that question. I better take some things out of my bag. Don't want to get charge for my suitcase being over 50 lbs.
Where are you staying?

Bill
11-22-2009, 10:52 AM
We leave at 8am. Out of Boston. We are staying at the Aruban but spend the majority of our happy hours at th Lacabana. We arrive at 1:00 Aruba time!

Things we have stuffed into the tiny spaces of our suitcases: block of cheddar cheese, goldfish, granola bars, h20 drop ins, pkg. wraps, lb of coldcuts, 1/2 dz dd bagels...all of which carry us over till we can get to the grocery store.
Don't forget your tubes for the lazy river.

You go, Bill! :D:D:D

Haven't heard from too many of us girls re what to pack. My first time to Aruba, I took clothes for dinners out that I never wore. Found out that the whole island is pretty casual. Leaving in 12 days, and of course have managed to collect quite a clothing pile of possiblities!! My Dad always used to say "Put your clothes in one pile, and your money in another. Now, take half of the clothes, and twice the amount of money!" :)

windy, I love that saying, whenever i start packing I over pack, thinking I need choices, but in reality, yes everything is very casual, and this year I am def. going to cut the clothes in half, unfortunately won't be able to double the money ( but will have a credit card )

I know its amazing my son can go to china for 2 weeks with a carry on and a backpack. I go to aruba for a week (with washer and dryer) and take 1 suitcase just for shoes and pillow.(I need my own pillow) and then a ton of clothes, something for at night dinner, something to wear in afternoon.. What afternoon I never get out of my bathing suit till its time to shower for dinner... So this year I will learn my lesson....1 suitcase .....to be cont..

Ok SunworshipperII let me know how the packing goes as I will be returning to Aruba in March with high hopes of packing 1 checked and 1 carry on. I usually have 2 checked and 1 carry on. I'm with you this is the year for condensing. Who needs clothes for the afternoon I'm in a bathing suit... Do you think we can do it???

At the Tamarijn you will only need a bathing suit and coverup during the day. :) Only bring shorts for sightseeing or to wear at night.

My husband says the same thing, too: "Less clothes, more money". :D

Over the years I've been getting much better at packing. I hate it when I pack something I don't wear or if I only wear a pair of shoes once.

We usually go to Aruba for 17 days every Sept. I now only need to pack one checked bag and one carry-on for 17 days - that's it. :)

I wear sneakers (the heaviest by far) and pack a pair of shoes for room to beach or pool and one pair tan matches everything pair of sandals.

I wear my Nikes (sneakers) on the plane (they take up too much space in my luggage) and I bring one pair of flip-flops (for the beach) and two pairs of sandals (one dressy/high heel and one more casual - that go with everything.)

I wear sneakers and bring one pair of nice comfy flip flops. The only time I wore my sneakers there was on the Green Zebra tour.

I bring three pair of flip flops - one for the beach, and two for dinner/sightseeing. I've thought about bringing sneakers, but my feet hate to be confined when it's warm - a real challenge when I go for a run!!

I wear a good pair of flip flops on the plane, makes it very easy to take on and off through security instead of untying laces. I also take dress sandals for dinner, sometimes tennis shoes for shopping in town.
My husband says I pack to many but they really dont take up that much room. I always overpack on the clothes. They have a nice laundry and that Tam so I guess if I packed lighter I could always utilize that.

Hi, This July will be our 8th year of going to Aruba. I can tell you that we go for 2 weeks every year and I don't even check a bag anymore. All you need are your bathing suits, a few pairs of shorts, tanks and a few sundresses. Don't forget to roll all your things in suitcase, they take up much less room that way. Enjoy and have a wonderful time!

from 8 am to 5 pm, bathing suit, cover up, flip flops, hat

from 6pm - bed, shorts and a decent looking top, sandals or sneakers.

bed....PJs or whatever.

the clothes that i wear in the evening for dinner or to the casino really could be worn again....cept for the stench of the smoke from the casinos.

Arubalisa

3 suits
1 to wear
1 will be damp
1 will be dry in case you need / want to change in the middle of the day

Imo, there is nothing worse than putting on a damp or wet bathing suit. :(With the humidity in Aruba, suits take awhile to dry. Don't be tempted to put your suit out on your patio or balcony. Otherwise, wave bye bye and it will belong to the wind! :D A forum member here even tried suction cups to attach the suits to their slider and the suits disappeared .

Should we take a poll on whether or not you rinse you suit in fresh water before hanging up to dry?

Over the years, and through my experience in retail, I can attest to the fact that your colors will hold up better if you rinse your suit after each wear. Fresh water flush in the sink does the trick.

Also, to get more wear out of your suit at the pool, do not sit on those inviting steps or swim outs either ;), doing so will pill the bottom of your suit. :(

EricaLovesAruba!
05-08-2011, 10:15 PM
Good to know. Thanks guys! I decided to buy 2 more suits for good measure, so now I will have 4. And I will be buying more cover ups since I've only got 1.
