Lots of kiosks/carts down at the high rise area that sell jewelry..downtown at the local huts along the water there is also lots of specials...paintings, carvings, t shirts etc. On weekends there is a flea market along the main drag in a parking lot that sell kinda the same stuff.

Does anyone know where we can find Aruba souvenirs, like magnets, with Bible verses on them? We bought one there several years ago, and would like to get some more of them. I don't remember where we purchased it, but it may have been a little shop across from the Hyatt. I think we saw them somewhere else too, but not sure who will have them now. Thanks.

i think JUGGLING FISH @ Playa Linda (i think playa linda) carries the magnets of which you are speaking.
my son and dil, bought a couple of the magnets and they have them on their fridge!

JUGGLING FISH has lots of good stuff and everything is relatively inexpensive.
:-)

Visit the kiosks on the side walk across from HI -- one has Aruba-made clothing (black or white) where I found a great sundress. There's also a woman who sells jewelry made from recycled glass.

In downtown Oranjestad there are the waterside stalls which usually have some paintings and such. http://www.aruba.com/thingstodo/activities/flea_market.aspx

i will take a photo of one that i got in december and post as a thumbnail.

a win win.......getting a nice aruba souvenir and helping the animals.

I bought a top from the kiosk where they have black or white, beautiful skirts, pants and tops. I also got a piece of jewelry from the kiosk with recycled glass. its right by TGIF in the open mall of Paseo Herencia. Beautiful stuff and very reasonable.

If anyone is interested in hand crafted items, we do sell paintings on canvas, driftwood sculptures and paintings, and unique custom made jewelry to raise funds for www.ARFaruba.com (http://www.ARFaruba.com) All the funds go directly to pay for spay/neuter, vet care, rescue, and locating adoptive homes for the homeless dogs and cats of Aruba. We frequently have a booth at the tourist flea market on Saturdays and Sundays near the supermarkets on the service road adjacent to the main road. Also, we will be having a huge fund raiser on March 13. Will post more info on that when the details are confirmed. If we are not at the flea market when you are there, just PM me and I will make sure you have access to see our wonderful items. There is always a supply of our paintings, jewelry and other handcrafted items in Aruba. Thanks for your interest and thanks Andrea for letting people know about our fund raising efforts for the animals.

Where can you buy general souvenirs on the island? I assume the hotel gift shops have things you can buy, anywhere else a good place to go? Tshirts, hats, mugs, key chains, etc etc etc? ;)

Our daughter found a great new souvenir shop at Baby Beach. It's called Chakaranda. Here's their website: http://www.chakaranda.com/. The website says "opening soon" but the owner told us they have been pen about 8-9 months. It's located in the block of stores that houses the local pub at Baby Beach.

The owner/operator makes laser etched items using driftwood, leather and other media. He has the equipment right there in the shop and if you don't see what you want, he can make it for you for later pick up or he'll deliver to your hotel.

He was very helpful and accommodating and took the time to explain the differences among the divi divi, watapana and fofoti trees often depicted in Aruban scenes.

We bought a leather etching of the well-known fofoti tree on Eagle Beach. It's ethed onto a 6"x8" piece of thick leather (my estimate). The leather is in turn mounted on a slightly larger wood plaque. $36.00. These items can be customized.

It's really worth the trip if you're in the area and looking for Made in Aruba souvenirs.

Thanks for sharing. I love to poke in souvenier shops and the baby beach area is on the agenda for our upcoming trip. DH doesn't appreciate the shops as much so I'll just have to find that local pub where he won't mind waiting for me!

Cheese and dutch chocolates are easily purchased at one of the large grocery stores or worst case, the airport as you are departing...
