New to forum but not new to Aruba. We've been coming to Aruba since 1988, and are timeshare owners at the Aruba Phoenix and have been coming twice a year since. Arriving in Aruba May 19th through May29th, staying in our timeshare. Does anyone remember what the name of the original resort that is now the Aruba Phoenix:confused:

Divirick,
Welcome to the forum....as long as we have been going the only name I remember is Phoenix, however I do not pay much attention to the names of the highrises since I don't/haven't stayed up in that area. It will be interesting to find out name and if I recognize it...

The Aruba Royal resort was the name, it remained incomplete for years, the big crane was on the roof of the casino, and finally fell down during a wind storm

The original building had a casino, but it was incomplete half finished, and left in disrepair. The owners went to South America with at least 3 millions dollars, that was suppose to finish the building. The Gov't took over the ownership, demolished the casino building and left the tower, which in time the divi corp took over management. Then they changed the name to the Divi Aruba Phoenix, which it know today, but the Aruba Royal was the original name.:doh::doh:

Yes, I purchased the timeshare under the Aruba Royal, but they only lasted for a year, and went under, I. believe it went under in 1991 or there about, we were out a timeshare for 2 years until the divi corp took over the property from the Gov't. The divi corp honored all the timeshare owners under the Aruba Royal, this was one of the conditions set forth by the Gov't. Thank you all for the interest.
