View Full Version : Balashi Outlet?

Hey everyone. First Post.

Going back to Aruba for a second time, 1st time was a couple years ago, loved it. I was a bit blown away by beer and liquor prices the last time... I read somewhere on the internet about a Balashi Outlet, anyone have any info on that?

The directions i found were pretty vague and combined with my fuzzy memory from 2 years ago, not good, but I would love to get some cheaper beer. Is it close to Super food, somewhere nearby, not even close... Any info, directions, photo, anything would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Also, just another question while i am at it. We'll be flying out or Orlando. Would you recommend stopping at the duty free on the way there or just buy it ahead of time and pack it up really good in the checked luggage? I just don't want to not be able to find the duty free, their prices be high (never bought from a duty free before), or something else and end up liquor-less in Aruba again and pay high prices.

buy at the duty free when arriving in aruba.
once you collect your luggage the duty free is on the right side not far from the luggage area exit.
great selection of liquor.

re: that balashi place, it IS on that road near superfood, but to my recollection it sells souvenirs (balashi hats and shirts etc) and if they sell beer, they must sell balashi beer right? ........i still think it'd be the smaller cans and the higher price than you find in the usa on beer.

if we are in that neighborhood in the next day or 2 i will check.

and...on that same road is the palerma rum place. maybe some good bargains there.

Last time in Aruba I bought Balashi at the duty free and must say IMO that it was a little on the pricey side at $10.00 a six pack.:eek:

Thats more then I pay for a good premium beer here.

IMO, I prefer ice cold Balashi on tap.

We just got back from Aruba and hit the balashi outlet. You no longer can buy balashi souveniers at the Balashi Brewery. It is on the main drag located next to the Ritz. If you buy a T-Shirt you can buy a cold Balashi for a buck! By the way they also sell T-Shirts at the flea market on sat and sun right down the road-same price!

I didn't think the prices for Balashi was any cheaper at their outlet.

They seemed to think a $1 a bottle was good deal at the outlet. And by the way you have to buy a shirt for that price! We never found a single cold bottle of Balashi on the Island cheaper than a dollar. But you guys are right-it is good beer. That Essoville Rum Shop tip we got on this forum was right! The bottle had ice on them. P.S they have long sleeve T-Shirts there for $10 limited quantity - but thats a good deal!

Not sure what you drink but upon our arrival Nov 6 the duty free in arrival terminal in Aruba did not have one bottle of Vodka. Selection was very limited on other items also. Could have just been a temporary issue, but we ended up with no duty free liquor. Next year we will buy before leaving PHL.

Balashi also has a store on the main road by the store that sells Teak Furniture. Right before the roundabout. Very small sign when we were there. Drove past it several times before we found it. At flea market if you purchased a tee shirt you received a ticket for a bottle of Balashi. Could be redeemed at refreshment stand at flea market.

Its a much better deal getting duty free booze from home airport going to Aruba. I dont think prices at aruba airport were that good anyhow and they are not duty free at airport when you arrive in Aruba. We got a bottle of same rum at Essoville Rum shop much cheaper than at same rum at airport leaving.

thanks for the info everyone. I guess with the term balashi "outlet" i was hoping for cheaper beer prices but i knew it was probably too good to be true.

might just end up buying and packing liquor from home then. I don't like the uncertainty of prices (i am a deal shopper) so i would be ticked if i went to the duty free in orlando and the prices were higher. I tried to see if they post the prices online, but it doesn't seem like it, too bad.

just looking to find a less expensive way to lounge at the pool with some cocktails

Remember you can only bring duty free if it is a direct flight. If you have have a stop over-no good as we were told. I would say we got booze 1/2 the price in Newark as compared to Aruba. We did think that Palmera rum was good in Aruba and a good deal. Barcardi rum in Aruba is a premium as well as bud beer. Balashi is cheaper than bud. Have a blast and read these forums on how to save money in Aruba. We made out pretty good saving on food, booze, happy hours, fishing, shopping and day trips and snorkel gear.

Another thing that we have done in the past is to go to say lings and buy liquor/beer and keep it at the hotel and mix your own.Works well up to the point where ya can't get out of the chair to go up to the room and make anymore!
