I have an IPad and a kindle and they both fit in this (http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=pac+safe+100&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=10623484424617963400&ei=BCYkTeP5AcT48Abm842-AQ&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CDsQ8wIwBA#ps-sellers) one. As a matter of fact, I bought my sister and both my children this size for Christmas.

Correction..my iPad does fit in it, but I just tried to cinch the bead into the lock portion and can not get it to latch....so i would say you need the bigger size for an iPad, but the 100 definitely fits the kindle. I believe the kindle and the nook are close to the same size. This (http://www.pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=118) one will hold a laptop.

I will let you know in two days as I have another one coming in.Thank you. My dh is just thinking we should buy a large one to hold my dslr camera, the video camera, dd's iTouch, the kindles and ;) the kitchen sink  :D ;) But they are not cheap...

I just put in the kindle, the kindle cover (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003DZ166G/ref=oss_product) (the one with the light) separately (to simulate another kindle) and a point and shoot camera, still enough room for a wallet, iPod and more cash!!! It should also fit the iTouch, not the kitchen sink though..:). Not sure about the slr camera though....I don't own one and not sure if it would fit.

but do these lock like the VV they look like they just clip on something.... what good is that.

They lock with the steel cord and can wrap around any object. There is a steel bead on the steel cord that has to pull through the latch (the first couple of times it's pretty stiff) then the lock goes through and latches pretty easily. here is the youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-wBf-Up1lI) demonstration

I have no affiliation with this company, just want to share an alternative to the VV

Both dh & dd's kindles have the exact same cover.

:offtopic:Mimi, btw, they love :) the lighted covers, but if yours is not secure in the cover where it connects like on the spine of a book, there are some defective covers which were shipped. Dh found out just today when he went online to return his. Amazon has a notice there which will give you a choice of return for refund or a pre-paid return and they will ship a new one free of charge as well.

I have one, also, and couldn't figure it out until I found a video on the pacsafe website. This forum won't let me post a link, so you'll have to go to the website & search for travelsafe 100.

There's a bead that is attached on the wire cable...feel for it along the top seam...that has to be pulled all the way through the hole to latchthrough the purple piece.
I felt the same way and really thought it was a rip off. I called the customer service person and she explained it to me...Voila!!!

It is very stiff the first couple of times, but then it gets much easier to pull it through after that.

For most products, scroll down on the individual page on the bottom right side you will see the video

For the travelsafe 100 http://www.youtube.com/v/9-wBf-Up1lI&hl=en_US (http://www.youtube.com/v/9-wBf-Up1lI&hl=en_US)

I liked the youtube link because it opened the video directly in full size

The pacsafe youtube channel is at http://www.youtube.com/user/PacsafeBags (http://www.youtube.com/user/PacsafeBags)

True but I think someone walking the beach or pool area with wire cutters may be a bit more obvious??? I would hope. Plus I plan on putting it inside another beach bag...and locking the whole thing up jusst for my nook

The bead is not supposed to move it is attached to the cable....pull the opposite way. If you look at the youtube link..it gives a good demonstration, except it will be a little stiff when it's new. Pull the bead through the bigger hole of the purple latch and then slide it over.

Slide it over until it catches. 27 seconds into the video is the exact point where it shows sliding the bead over. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-wBf-Up1lI&feature=player_profilepage

We received and are very happy with the
meshsafe b200 laptop backpack (50% off) US$ 59.99 http://pacsafe.com/media/product/product_image/thumb/3654_85_20202_MeshSafe_B200_BS.JPG (http://pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=85)

as well as purchasing the
retractasafe 250 4 dial retractable cable lock US$ 17.99 http://pacsafe.com/media/product/product_image/thumb/2716_111_PE241RD_retractasafe-250---red.jpg (http://pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=111)

We were pleased with the quality of the product. LOL, dd, wanted to know why the back pack was so heavy. :) Now when we travel, this will do away with a carry-on and our laptop computer bag, it will fit under an airline seat and we can then lock it to anything in our room we wish as well as locking it to a chair or palapa. The retratasafe cable extends 3 ft.

I wouldn't leave anything on the beach, its too hot, especially something with a large display screen. Leave it at home, or just bring a book. You're on vacation just enjoy the island.

many folks use the pac safe or the vacation vault or similar locking items with great regularity and great success.

i religiously use my vacation vault and lock it to the palapa on the beach and it stays safe and dry and since it is under the palapa roof it is not in the sun.

many folks too use the larger pacsafe that will hold their kindle, nook or ipad.
some folks instead of bringing a book bring the new ereaders and need to be able to secure them properly when entering the ocean for a dip.

to each their own -books, ereaders, pacsafes, vacation vault or nothing.......it's all about the individual's needs and wants.

Amen. From the first time visitor, to honeymooners, to those traveling alone or with small children, to repeat offenders :D (such as myself), there's something for everyone. Aruba isn't a one size fits all paradise.

Regarding e-readers, I have a Kindle, and I would say nearly half the beach side readers had some sort of e-reader. Mine was easy to read, even in the brightest sunlight.

I do use a Vacation Vault for my camera, cash, cell phone and room key. I have a beach bag that zips up, so I just hooked my VV through the handles and onto my palapa. Chances are, I'd never need it, but it's a very inexpensive way to have peace of mind to guard against those who want to snatch and run. I stayed at the Hyatt this trip, and they had rented VV for $5/day according to the sign I saw at the towel hut.

I just received my PacSafe TravelSafe 20L Secure Portable Safe!
It is just a little smaller than a brown paper grocery bag. Plenty of room for a small laptop AND a DSL camera, plus lots of other items! It is lightweight and easy to secure. I was torn between the vacation vault and the pacsafe. Decided to go with the pacsafe to have more room. It also fits in a standard backpack! After a lot of searching, I found the cheapest place to be basegear.com. It is more expensive than the v.v. @ $64.99, but I wanted to feel that my camera was safe while in the water. So many to choose from! First trip to Aruba on Oct. 5......38 days to go!
