My boyfriend & I are preparing for our first trip to Aruba in February 2011! We're staying at the Westin and are really looking forward to a fun week. We're in our mid-late 30's and are looking for suggestions on things to do...especially nightlife. We had a change to book a room at the Marina hotlel at the Renaissance for the same price and opted for the Westin due to location. I hope we made the right choice!

there is no wrong choice when deciding between renaissance and westin.
both are awesome properties!

my advice is checking out activities and sports category.
lots to do and never enough time to do it all.
pay special attention to restaurant choices...........there are many many choices.

Not sure what you enjoy but you have everything from a Piano Bar at Sopranos to Casinos, Jazz Bar and a few clubs downtown that I don't make it to at this point in my life....Have a GREAT trip. Staying at the Westin you will be close enough to walk to anything on Palm Beach within 10 min or so.

Stop by Cafe Rembrandt some night. While its not a crowded, high activity place its charm is many of the Dutch/island residents seem to gather there.

Welcome to the forum, you will love Aruba and will want to go back. Either hotels are great and no matter what you do as nightlife, if you want to dance most of the better clubs are downtown. Enjoy.

My friend and I will be there the end of Feb (both mid 30 girls) We enjoy hanging out at Bugloe during the day watching water sports etc. listening to music, get some shade and have some drinks. For night life there are too many options you will have a blast! We usually sneak down the road to some of the local bars for a change. We can night club at home! :)

Hi Heather! My husband and I just got back from our first trip, and we also were interested in the nightlife (we're late 20s/early 30s). We stayed at the Renaissance, but we also went to the Palm Beach area a couple times. If you are in Oranjestad, CiLo is a nice lounge with live music on some nights and a good DJ on other nights. There's also Mambo Jambo (which is really popular on Wednesday nights -- salsa night) and 7 West (another nightclub/lounge). Plus, we really enjoyed Blue, the club in the Renaissance. It's indoor/outdoor near their pool. They play good music, actually projecting the music videos on the side of the building. It was a lot of fun.

Downtown, near Palm Beach, you HAVE to go to Moomba Beach on Sunday night. The locals told us about it as THE place to be on Sundays, and they were right. Great DJ, right on the beach, dancing plus 2 bars -- the place was packed. One of our favorite nights. Plus, there's Senor Frogs and many other restaurants and bars all up and down that main strip in Palm Beach (near your hotel).

I think you can't go wrong with either hotel, but I would suggest checking out the other area that you're not staying in at least one night. Just don't go to Oranjestad on Sunday night -- everything is dead. Have a great time! We can't wait to go back!
