We have been using TSA approved locks for a couple of years now. There have never been any issues.

The brighter colors help to make your luggage easier to identify ;), unless like us, your luggage is orange. :D

have not used locks since 9/11....what do these TSA locks do that makes them ok ??? Do you have to wait till TSA puts your luggage through the xray then lock them or what ???

These locks can be opened by the TSA only. We put our locks on before going to the airport and had no problems. I didn't know they made these locks until last year and I learned it here. I got mine at Target.

"TSA has worked with several companies to develop locks that can be opened by security officers using universal "master" keys so that the locks may not have to be cut. These locks are available at airports and travel stores nationwide. The packaging on the locks indicates whether they can be opened by TSA."

Got a love note from the TSA again. For some reason they decided to inspect the bag with five bottles of rum in it. Fortunately, they all made it home.

Not as sorry as I am. I may be going back down in May for a couple days, so it shouldn't be too long.

FYI there are also TSA approved locks that have a small dot that changes color when TSA uses their key to open your bags. My hubby brings dive gear sometimes on trips and it's nice to know before you leave the airport if TSA has done inventory on your stuff. You can get them from a few websites or I got one off of ebay.

We don't use locks. The TSA has searched my bag maybe three or four times in the past ten years. I always carry a couple of kitchen knives and some other kitchen gear in my checked bag. I guess it looks suspicious in an X-ray.

The TSA is required to leave a note if they open your bag. If your lock indicates that it has been opened and there is no note, you should notify the nearest security personnel.

They have opened my dive bag on every trip in the last two or three years.

thanks Chadd...they have only done it once to our knowledge before we got the locks and there was a note...I bought the locks after that just in case "someone" forgets to leave a love note for us the next time or in case next time it's not TSA.

I should have added, that we did have our TSA approved locks on our luggage. The locks were locked and undamaged when we arrived in Aruba. So no harm done and nothing missing.

i used TSA locks for the first time this past trip.

I didn't want to put the Engagement ring in my carry on, or on me. As the idiots at TSA, might out me with the ring, and the whole beach side plan was ruined. So i bought the locks, put the ring in several socks, then bundled with a shoe, then in a pair of shorts.

I could just see them telling me they want to check my bag, i whisper to them its an engagement ring, and the person says, " what, an engagement ring" in a loud, annoying voice?

I have a huge rant on the American TSA agents at Aruba airport, but i'll save it.
