Vacuum/Space Saver bags for packing

Has anyone ever used them? I'm a horrible overpacker! On our flight to Jamaica, my suitcase weighed 48 lbs and that was just for 6 days! :eek: This trip is double that so I'm just looking for ways to pack everything I need and not check 2-3 bags.

I've heard the bags work, but your clothes can get wrinkled. So I'm looking for those that have used them and their experience. Thanks!

I go to aruba for two weeks and take just a carry on. of course we can wash clothes, too. I am an avid space bag user. I don't use the vacuum ones. I use the travel ones so you pack very neatly in them, sort of slide them in. then you roll the air out of them. when I open them up once I get there, all I need to do is hang the clothes up and the few wrinkles, if any, come out. but the key is to fold very neatly without wrinkles. I swear by these bags. everything is packed in them. and the best is when you come home, all your dirty clothes are in the bags and you just open them and dump in the hamper, lol.

the travel ones I find are better and you don't need a vacuum.

I have never used the space saver bags but when we went on a cruise I used zip lock bags which I assume would be a similar idea. I used the larger sized bags primarily for undergarments and the hubby's boardshorts and a few other things. I also found videos on youtube for bundle wrapping which saves space. I am a recovering over-packer and still have a lot of work to do, but our 2nd trip to Aruba I realized a lot of what we took the first time was unneccesary. If you are on the beach most of the day and only wearing an outfit for dinner, it can most likely be worn again for another similar day. Good luck!
