we are planning on bringing our son and his family to aruba friday july 6 thru friday july 13.

i have a contact and can get a 2 bedroom at the riu for 2800 for the week. we have stayed at the riu in the past and really enjoyed it. my issue is that airfare on fridays is thru the roof. we are considering coming thursday to thursday and just renting a place for thursday then moving to timeshare on friday. last time we did this we won 7k in the casinos that first night.

i'm trying to figure if there is a more economical way to do this. for example, if we can get two rooms at the ocean suites for 1000 or so for the week, that might be a way to go.

any advice, available rooms etc would be greatly appreciated.

todd

ps....i'm not sure what week july 6-13 is considered

Good luck! That is exactly what my family has done the last few years. It is much less expensive to fly in on a Wed or Thurs & rent a room for a night or two - plus you get a few extra days in paradise!

re: the ocean suites.......are you hoping to get both units for a total of $1000 or each for $1000.

the renaissance ocean suites also has non timeshare units on 2 of the floors. the units are almost identical to the timeshare units, with the exception of the kitchenette....... the kitchenette in the non timeshare unit has less creature features.
also too, those units are not Fri to Fri. they are "any day check in"

visit some of the travel sites....cheap caribbean, travelocity, expedia, priceline

i have seen these units listed for $170 p night

how about snagging that riu unit and adding on 2 units at ocean suites for a couple of nights?

would you consider a condo on eagle beach?

Renn ocean suites is also a Friday to Friday timeshare. What about looking at Marriott Surf Club or Lacabana would have other days as a check in option, including thursday?

Thank-you Andrea.

I am currently painting the entire condo, so it hopefully will look nicer by the time we leave. It would cost you just under $2000 for the week including taxes, and other government fees. It is a 2 bedroom-master has a king and the guest room has two full sized bed. There are two bathrooms, a full kitchen, full sized washer and dryer, living room and balcony with ocean views on the 4th floor in the Palm Building in Oceania on Eagle Beach-just cross the street and you are on the beach. There are four pools(one is a kiddie pool) and some are zero entry. Tennis, racket ball, squash court, two fitness centers, a kids playroom, a business center(not much in there except for a lending library), basketball, pool table, I think ping pong, saunas in a gated complex.
