I tried to move a small amount of money from my account at arubabank to my account oversee and it was blocked!
I called Arubabank and they told me the central bank blocked the transfers abroad.
Is it possible? Anyone is having the same problem?

My friend who is a property owner had the same issue and told me they think it has something to do with foreigners exploiting the situation and basically buying the island. I have no idea if this is an accurate reason.

Exploiting?
It was only a 2000us transfer......Really worrying that the central bank can basically block your account!
Not a good sign.
I think never happened to me and I never heard something like that. Venezuela or Cuba maybe.....

A local told me this at least a month ago. I 'think' (but I am not an expert on this nor do I play one on tv...lol) it has to do with Aruba needs the US dollars when they trade etc on the market. With no USA tourists, etc the dollars are drying up. Think of all the dollars that come into the island on a regular basis pre covid...restaurants, casinos, etc. Also starting today gamblers can not have their florins changed into dollars at the casino. They can get dollars from the ATM i believe. Not sure if this is related to the current situation or if it is related to money laundering.

Yes, this is most likely the reason. Someone local told me the same back in April

Sending money in isn't an issue-we sent money to property manager so they are okay with in. We don't have an actual bank account-everything is through the property manager.
