Thanks for the posting, what numbers are you looking at? Seems to me like there were almost 80 new cases....they upped the "cured" number so the active case load did not increase by as many.

Happy some have recovered but still 79 new cases.

That was my thought as well....just not as well written as yours was.

Yesterday they had 776 Total Active cases and today is 806. And it makes just 30 cases daily increase. Sound much better then previous days.

Today 79 people out of 525 tested were tested positive, which is 16%.
What's more, 166 out of the 525 tests were Airport tests of tourists so for the locals out of 359 tests 79 people tested positive which is 22%.
This acc to the Aruba Govt.

I wonder BTW how 49 people recuperate from Covid-19 today, since it has been mentioned everyone being asymptomatic, no one receiving medical treatment.
Govt mentions 49 people leaving isolation today, that must then be at the hospital, since home quarantine takes 14 days, and there not being any active cases prior to August 2.
Anyone?

My guess is they were retested and were negative.

I found the answer.
Aruba has 7 days of mandatory quarantaine (paid) , and 7 voluntary.
The first 49 people who tested positive on August 4 and 5th completed their mandatory quarantaine and are now considered recuperated.
Not sure why the words "left isolation" were used instead of finished their quarantaine, but this is what seems happened.

In that case numbers will go down drastically this week, since everyone who tested positive a week ago now can again leave their home and is no longer considered an active case.
Tomorrow then if things go well 92 out of quarantaine and day after tomorrow 133.

people who test positive are put to "isolation".
folks waiting for test results are "quarantine"
I think too and I might be wrong......folks in close contact with Positives are required to Quarantine as well.
I do not know for how long though.

Yes, sorry for the mixup in words, in Holland isolation is in the hospital, quarantaine is at home symptoms or not.

Regarding Aruba, so people who go into self isolation are considered recuperated after 7 days?

I believe close positives are 14 days quarantine as well- my bosses daughter just had that happen here in MA.

My single biggest worry is if airport test gives false positive. We are keeping well away from anywhere that’s infected and our own county in England has very low no of cases so little chance of catching it.

Does anyone know of any presumed false positives from airport tests? I can’t find any but seems to happen elsewhere.

The important numbers, are the number of new cases because that shows the spread.

Robin - agreed. Those are the numbers I look at since spread is the main concern.
