Please help me with this situation. I understand that being from NY, I must submit a covid negative test which was taken within 72 hours of arrival. I dont see how this is possible - I leave my home on a monday morning at 5 am which means that the test results would have to be available from the latest time being Friday morning. With the present result timeframes, how would I make this happen? Some tests take a week others a few days. I cannot get a straight answer from a testing facility, so should I just take my chances and pay the $75 for the covid test upon arrival? And, if I do this and I get a mistake in the results and they are positive (whether I am or not) then what? Am I denied entry? any help you can give is much appreciated.

Iam also from NY and made an appt at Riverside medical group in Seacaucus NJ they can give you the rapid Nasal Swab test and have results in 30 mins. I got this info from another forum member. The cost is 135.00 if your insurance does not cover it. You can call them at201 863 3346. They are very helpful.
And no masks on Beaches or when in pools only when walking around the resorts.

hi dutchess

welcome to the posting side

check out this link and read and it should answer your testing questions. https://www.aruba.com/us/traveler-health-requirements

you are not in a "hot state" so you do not "have" to be tested prior to going.
however, I think most of the people are testing prior because why take the chance of being positive and then isolated in Aruba?
it is better to know b4 you get on that plane.

EDMLS also had good replies for you and check out the phone # for the testing site that he/she posted.
also, too forum member/moderator Jacki just returned and had her testing at a place in New Jersey easy peasy.

if you are flying at 5 am on Monday, your test must be taken no earlier than prior Friday at 5 am.
it MUST be a PCR nasal swab and there is much more info on the link that I posted.

MASKS are ON.................on the plane, in the airports, in the taxi to resort, or to the rental car office, in resort common area indoor spaces.....like a lobby, an interior bar, a casino, public restrooms, stores etc. masks are NOT required when you are walking outside ex: to the beach. Conversing with beach attendant or gathering in large groups on the beach, ya masks required. keep good physical spacing outdoors.

do not be shy. ask many questions!! it is all a new learning experience.
no question is stupid. really.

you WILL be able to find a nasal swab test that is affordable, quick and hopefully local.

Welcome to the posting side!

If you do schedule an appointment at Riverside Medical Group make sure you confirm with them that you will be able to take the rapid test. They are running out and I was told only using them for people waiting to have surgery or are having symptoms. They are hoping to have more rapid tests in next week.

very helpful responses!

as many have noted in this forum and others, the Walgreens option is an excellent choice for those in the nj/ny area:
-appropriate test (PCR) with reputable lab
-no need for prescription
-results, while not guaranteed, come within 24-48 hours in non-hotspot states
-easy access through email to results in pdf form

One needs to "apply" for an appointment online through the Walgreens website. the other curveball is that locations are somewhat few-and-far-between, ie not all Walgreens locations provide this service.

agree with all above, for a monday AM departure, test needs to be done friday AM (or later).

I'm not in your area, but there seems to be some universal truths so to speak for the larger testing companies. As Dicodoco stated, Walgreen's is getting results back in 24-48 hours.

Also there is a place called Passport Health that is national and caters to people who need tests for travel. (Not free and costs $100+ depending on the location...$185 where I am.) Of course, depending on the workload of the labs Passport Health uses in the area, it may take longer than 24-48 hours. However, they can give you the estimate if you call them. Here is a link to their NY locations: https://www.passporthealthusa.com/locations/ny/.

We decided to go with Walgreen's for our trip next weekend. And if for some reason the results doesn't come in the time we need (KNOCK WOOD :)), we'll do the $75 when we land and take our chances.

Good luck!

Just a question for American travellers. When you return home do you have to quarantine for 14 days?

I just flew home Saturday from Aruba and you do not have to quarantine. But I did talk to some people and they said that where they work, they are making them quarantine for 14 days before they come back. So you might have to check that out. Good luck. AB

I got back from the west coast 15 days ago and had to quarantine 14 days from both of my work locations.

My office is requiring a negative test after traveling, but no quarantine necessary.
