We have a few members planning on a visit in the November-December time frame. Are you going? Were you going but canceled? What are your dates? Anybody planning a forum get together?

We were scheduled for Thanksgiving week and part of the following week. That is my absolute favorite time to be in Aruba. We did, however, decide to cancel. At this point, I don’t believe we’ll be scheduling a May trip either. So... at least we have flexibility since we are retired. If circumstances change, we can always schedule something.

We are staying for 3 weeks in November at Amsterdam Manor. Rescheduled from April but was probably going to go in November anyway. This is just a longer trip now.

Going to the usual bulletin board happy hours that have been going on since I put them together in 1998. The day/location since 2003 has been at Amsterdam Manor's bar on Mondays. However, this time we will have to wait and see if a group over 4 people are allowed to mingle at a bar.

But we do plan on meeting up for drinks with a few friends from here and other Aruba forums as well - and of course, we will get together with our Aruban and Dutch friends who we have known for 15+ years.

Will be fun....and a much needed break from work!

We're the opposite. We know where we'll be staying but not sure when we're going.

Tracey and Jon will be there from turkey day for about 10 days. (maybe more)
Currently they have escaped the real world (illness in the family) and have taken some respite time!

This is too funny...LOL!!
Yep, we are on the same timeliness as mentioned Nov 26 - December 6. Looks like we have quite the fun group here. My husband can be difficult to convince to meet up with people, but I will work on him

Okay, I'm going to have to do some thinking while on the Cape about a quick trip to Aruba after Thanksgiving. I was supposed to be on a plane to the happy island right now. :-(

I speculate that some timeshare rentals will open up in December - usually a super busy and expensive time but maybe not so much this year. Maybe you could find a nice deal!

Hello! I am planning to arrive November 26 (Thanksgiving Day) and leave December 4, and am staying at the Oceania. I am a little nervous about getting the proper testing before I leave - Minnesota is one of the states that Aruba absolutely requires a negative covid test before entry - there's no testing at the airport. I found a place here that can turn one around - but there are so many variables where I live - one of them being weather. So, I am hoping that all of the planets align and everything will come off without a hitch.

yes Minnesota is a "hot state"
yes, you need a negative molecular PCR test prior to arrival.
there IS testing at the Aruba Airport and you CAN be tested there if your Covid test at home is not the kind that Aruba mandates (PCR/Molecular).
https://www.aruba.com/us/traveler-health-requirements#component-3

we too are in a "hot state" (Florida)
if we are unsuccessful getting a molecular per test prior to travel, we will get the rapid non per test and then test in Aruba and quarantine til results come.

we have been tested 2x so far using the per molecular nasal swab and the first time results came back in 9 days.
2nd time, results in 48 hrs.

we will be in aruba while you are there.

you flying delta or AA?

I am flying Delta - I heard they are probably the safest airline to fly with. I am glad to know that if there is some kind of snafu with my test results, I can still get tested in Aruba!

Thanks!

Have been flying Delta over the last few months now. Middle seats blocked through January 6 and first class cabin at 50% capacity. They are doing a great job with safety practices. Using Delta to Aruba at the end of October for 3 weeks. I believe I sent you the names /links to the clinics in the Minneapolis area that have PCR results the following day.

I am sad. I had to cancel. Covid is soaring in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and my gut was telling me very, very loudly not to go. So I am following my gut. The minute that we get some kind of vaccine or antidote, I will be on a plane there, though! (This seems really promising: https://www.biospace.com/article/inexpensive-nasal-spray-prevents-covid-19-infection-in-ferrets-shows-promise-for-human-trials/).

In the meantime, I will be visiting this forum and living vicariously.

Yea where is Amy's review I'm sure she is there now having a blast. Wednesday's is happy hour Manager Cocktail at Amsterdam Manor for guest only which I crashed my last trip by mistake. LOL. I had an awesome time and drinks were like $2 bucks with free appetizers being passed around..

Oh man, Bhoff, that has to be painful!!!! I just rebooked for April 16 through 25 (added a day to make up for my disappointment of cancelling this trip.) I sure hope we have a vaccine by then or cases have plummeted. On a positive note: I finally got reservations at Fred Restaurant, so there's that at least.

They've just closed down all indoor dining in Minnesota and are begging people not to travel anywhere over Thanksgiving, so I feel like I've made a good choice. Plus, my kitty was diagnosed with diabetes in September. Even though his sitter knows how to give shots and all of that, I feel better staying home right now for that reason, too.

Just returned after 3 wonderful weeks. In the process of planning a work-cation sometime in Feb. or March for at least a month since I am not returning to my office anytime soon and can work anywhere.

Everything went smoothly from testing prior to arrival to new measures taken by hotels, restaurants, and stores to keep everyone safe. The island is quiet but it was great seeing friends again and being able to get together with people (not in a party situation, but 4 to a table max over drinks and dinners.) Luckily, most things in Aruba are outside so it was easy to social distance. Had a nice upgrade to one of the penthouse suites at Amsterdam Manor and had my own personal bartender most of the time since there were occasions that it was just me before my husband arrived a few days later.

I moved posts that came after post #45 into its own thread in the Airline category.
It went too far off topic here in roll call.
