    Walking Tour...... Done It?

    https://www.aruba.com/us/explore/aruba-walking-tours

I know that when I am downtown, there is a reason and I arrive, do what I have to do and then be done with it.

I do not mean it to sound like a chore........it is usually to :
    dine
    or
    jewelry shop
    or
    casino.

When I head into a store (jewelry usually), DH finds a bench and does some people watching or says "you'll know where to find me" and he heads off into the Crystal Casino.

I can with much certainty say that we'd not participate on a walking tour.

    You?

Like you guys, when we leave the beach we go downtown with a purpose. Paying 80 dollars to walk around Oranjestad in the heat is not my idea of a good time. Maybe cruisers would enjoy it, but it's not for us.

$80?!! Thanks but no thanks. Not when you could easily do it on your own in less time. Downtown's not THAT interesting.

I checked the rates for one day later this month. $39 per adult, $29 per child over 5 years old. Figure like most tours you tip the guide, it might be closer to $100 for two people. The evening food tour is $79 per person, but you get a bite to eat and a drink at 5 different restaurants. Here's a pretty good review of what's included in the food tour. https://wheninaruba.com/blog/walking-food-tour/ This seems like a better deal and it's after the sun sets, so no loss of beach time.

It lost me at 2 1/2 hours by foot!! Not for us. We do enjoy staying downtown for a few nights at the end of our trips but can’t imagine walking around for 2 1/2 hours.

I like the sound of it and the idea of learning more about the culture and downtown, but just can't see myself committing to it on vacation. I much rather soak up every bit of sun and beach/pool as I can then sweat walking around downtown.

I know that on Betico Croes Day and Flag and Anthem Day they offer free walking tours of I think the Rancho neighborhood in downtown. I have never done it though.

What a bunch of beach bums we are - and proud of it! LOL!
I'm at the beach on Long Island Sound right now. Not quite the same ambience as Eagle Beach.
