Tracey are you staying a few nights at Manchebo on your Nov/Dec trip?

So glad you enjoyed the Chophouse.... it is truly one of our favs. When in Aruba, we do prefer dining outside with a view.... but the ambiance at Chophouse is really first class.

I asked to see their menu and we ordered edamame and a couple of pieces of nigiri (yellowtail) as appetizers. The steaks were awesome, tender and flavorful my wife and I shared the filet...we are not big eaters) and it was plenty. Also, one of our party had the Tomahawk pork chop and raved about it. The only disappointment was that they were out of Caesar salad and the mighty cheesecake for dessert (which others here had recommended). We ended up sharing a piece of the apple strudel with ice cream which was excellent. Nice wine list with most selections available by the glass. We really enjoyed the dinner.

We then walked around the resort and the little shopping village adjacent to the resort. What a cool convenient place this is. We had never been to this area of Aruba. I can see why many of you love coming to this section.

We are all going to Madame Janettes tonight for dinner.... can’t wait for the almond crusted grouper!
Anxious to hear about your dinner at MJs!

Dinner tonight was with the kids (grown and grands) at MJ. We got there early and got a great table for 11 of us under one of the big trees, near the entertainer. The drinks were great and my daughter had the Aruba punch which she loved and looked awesome too. Unfortunately due to my diet/ health restrictions I can no longer drink beer. I love their beer selection here and in the pst have tried several including the original Budvar Budweiser beer from The Czech Republic. If you like beer, their beer selection and book is extensive!

One of the things I don’t like about MJ is that their portions are huge AND they charge an $8 sharing charge. As I’ve said, my wife and I are NOT big eaters and we almost always share an entree as we did the steak at Chophouse. I understand that restaurants rely on a certain amount of spend per guest but charging the sharing charge when other appetizers (in addition to main courses)are being ordered just is not a fair policy.

The food was all very good with various people in our group ordering rack of lamb(shared), almond crusted grouper (1 shared, 1 alone), surf and turf and the Mario Andretti (veal Milanese). I just had the Hungarian goulash soup. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was better this time than previous visit 2 years ago. We didn’t order dessert as we were on borrowed time with the kids. Not one of our favorite restaurants and probably won’t go back too soon.

We’ve always had good meals at MJ but like you, do find the portions just too large. We never share just because we never want the same thing. Then, of course, I feel wasteful for leaving half the meal. Didn’t realize their splitting charge was so high.

The kids will be in the Kids club for Pajama night tonight. We have a reservation at a restaurant called The Lobby. Any thoughts on this place? Haven’t heard it mentioned or recommended. My daughter picked it. Thanks.

I’ve heard some really good things about the Lobby. The only negative was some complained that it was expensive. After looking at the menu, I didn’t think the prices looked bad. May add it to our November list.

Forum member Robin and her husband Stu went there last trip. I'm pretty sure she spoke about it in her trip report. When we got together with them last trip I believe she said that they liked it, but said it was a little pricey.
