    Not making a List

We never seem to follow "restaurant list" that we make.
    Our upcoming trip..no list.
We have our regulars that we try not to miss ...Hung Paradise, Bavaria to name just 2.

Have any of you given up on preplanning ?(even if it is just in your mind )

I understand and am not talking about places like Carte Blanche where a reservation is necessary.

I go back and forth with the whole list thing. We have probably a 50% success rate. Now I think of it more of our list of options to pick from.

We never make a list...we just rely on the mood of the day.

But, we do try to hit a couple “for the first time” each trip.

We've given up on lists. We have our faves that we want to visit of course, but no "Local Store on Tuesday, Casa Tua on Wednesday" kind of thing. We're much more spontaneous than that.

I make a list before we leave of 4 categories. Must try, would be nice to try, we will probably go, and keep it on the radar.
For the must try, I may make 1 or 2 reservations or at least figure out where they fit in the itinerary. "Keep it on the radar" are usually places I want to go to but distance and timing I know we probably won't, but if it works out, great. "Probably" are places we will just likely end up due to proximity or past experience. Would be nice to try are usually more upscale and likely require reservations, we rarely make it to any of these.

So I make a list of ideas, but not a list with an itinerary.

That's how I'm doing it this year as well, Tracey. Since last August was my first time going alone and I chose to do the AI at Manchebo, I had all my meals there. But now that I'm comfortable with the solo travel and Manchebo, I've been exploring the restaurants in the area on Trip Advisor and, of course, this forum. So I have a "list" of places I want to try. Also looked for early bird specials to save some money. Of course, Lobster Night at the Chophouse is a must! But TOF looks like it has a good Early Bird and is so close. Also, Papillon has a good one and I loved that place a few years ago so that will probably be my one "taxi-ride" dinner. But I'm leaving it open. I'm a chronic list maker so can't help myself! LOL!

I jot down a few restaurants that we may want to try. We have our regular places we will re-visit and may or may not try the places I wrote down. This trip I really want to visit Bavaria. We have never been there.

We go wherever- no lists,no reservations. If we get there and we decide we really need to go to a certain place- such as Barefoot- we make one. We are not foodies so we are pretty easy going about Dinner.

I make a list of places I want to try for the first time - at least one new restaurant each year is a must for me, even if it's just apps and cocktails.
    Then I have a list of must-go-again
And sadly I have the not-gonna-happen this year list - usually because there's just not enough time.

With some of the places, I'm limited because I'm not comfortable going alone and none of my vacation friends are up for it, but I just choose some other place.
