Nov 17 is his arrival by tugboat at the cruise port.
He and his helpers will parade the Main Street, past Parliament.

    This is a big event.

We went to the port one year. It is quite an event in Aruba. Great seeing all the kids, so excited. Worth the trip. This is a big a very big deal here with many people at the port. It is a little strange seeing Santa dressed as a bishop and his helper Zwarte Pete, but this is their custom done with good intentions.

Which is funny because Saint Nicholas(Sinterklaas) was actually a Bishop in the first half of the 4th century. He was seen as the patron saint for children. Santa clause was adapted from Sinterklaas and first made its appearance shortly after Dutch colonization of the Americas.

Good thing is that we celebrate both. However Sinterklaas is seen more as a kids event. After that most will only really celebrate Christmas, unless of course you have children yourself.
