    First trip to Aruba

    Hey guys!
My girlfriend and I are coming down to Aruba for about 10 nights from December 28th to January 7th or 8th. We have a few things we want to do, like natural pool, flamingo island, the black beach, horseback riding, etc Do you guys recommend anything? We are looking for pretty much anything, both of us love adventure. Plus what do you recommend for New Years??
    Thank you

Can’t wait for the answers! And we haven’t picked a spot yet. We are renting somewhere on Airbnb but haven’t got down to just one choice yet

welcome to the aruba.com community forum!

if you have not already made your reservations, I urge you to do it now.
New Years in aruba is HUGE and very popular and crowded .

You mention Flamingo Island and I am assuming that is the Renaissance "private island"
They sell day passes at approx $125 pp per day, based on hotel census. (to be bought very early in the morning at Renaissance Marina Hotel)
Over the holidays you can guess that the Renaissance (both properties) will be probably at capacity, making those day passes very slim to come by.

You can take a UTV or ATV tour and visit black stone beach and natural pool.

I urge you and your girlfriend to spend much time scrolling around the Activities/Sports category and ask many questions.
As CP said, there will be many good answers and or suggestions coming your way.

New Years Eve or New Years Day?
there are fireworks on New Years Eve and many of the resorts will have special dinner events.

Please encourage your girlfriend to post also!

    Thank you for your reply!
Where do you suggest we make reservations? We are both mid 20's so we aren't afraid of a large party crowd however I would like to do more adventuring than partying this trip. I read that Aruba does have a large New Years celebration so I am looking forward to that.
We are thinking about renting a 4wd truck or jeep from a rental car company for the week. Can we access those sites without a tour guide? We are both versed in off roading with jeeps, trucks, quads, etc.
And yes I was referencing the private island. Is it worth it? I have read reviews that there are only a few flamingos and its a bit of a tourist trap.
Once again thank you for all your replies!

If you snorkel, then make a reservation with www.arubabob.com. They use water scooters.

I do not recommend on going out to the off road area alone (not in a tour) no matter what your skill and experience.
I recommend taking a ATV or UTV tour 1st and then when you are somewhat familiar with the area, then go out on your own.

I recommend that you look up some of the postings from forum members LeavetheKidswithMom

    They are experienced, like you.
They spend ALL of their Aruba vacations exploring and being in the off roading area LOTS.

Yes you can access the natural pool without a guide.

Renaissance Island is nice. Is it nice worth $125 each? I don't know about that.
every time that we have been there, we have stayed at Renaissance Marina or Renaissance Ocean Suites.
We never paid any additional $$ to go there..it was included in our stay at the resort.

Spend much time reading Activities/Sports and My Aruba Story.
You will get a good feel of what is going on.

In the search menu.........enter, New Years Eve and read some of the threads that show up.

Again, spend much time reading and reading and asking.
