    first trip to Aruba...

    We have traveled all over the Caribbean and it’s time to visit Aruba.. We have heard many great things about it including most of my Dutch side of the family. I see the beaches are public which is great. What we are wondering is where is the best place to rent a cabanas. We have rented a condo in Noord just up from the beach…. We want the tour the whole island so we are wondering if a jeep is the best way to check it out ourselves or a car and take the jeep your… looking forward to some insights..

    welcome to the aruba.com community forum.
    there are many places to rent shade along Eagle Beach, Arashi Beach, Surfside Beach and Baby Beach.
    lots of beach vendors.
    Moomba on Palm Beach will have lounges and shade for rent.

    unless you plan to do off road adventures, a car will be just fine.

    take some time to read the getting around aruba category and the aruba stories and culinary culture for some ideas.

    when will you be in aruba?

    thanks... We are booked for May 12 to 19th.... yes plan to do off road as we want to check out some of the off the beaten path areas ... plus i love to fish so will be trying some surf fishing...

    Thanks.... we looked at a pre-retirement home in Roatan however being part Dutch Aruba has always been on the list to check out before buying a place.... We love to travel south and have worked are way down... looking forward to keeping there....

    For your first trip, my suggestion is do an off road trip early on in your visit, then you will have an idea of places you want to go back to on your own in a rental. You only need 4wd for very few sights, might be worth the savings to rent a car. Lots of beaches have shade available, but not necessarily cabanas.
