From Germany to Aruba

my name is Karin and I'm born and still living in Germany. Last November, my boyfriend Andreas and me visited Aruba and completely fell in love with the island. Now we want move here next year. Any information that we can get, is helpful - that's why I'm here.

In which part of Germany do you live? We will probably be in Germany again next spring/summer as our former exchange student is getting married.

Right now we live between Frankfurt and Cologne, close to a city called Limburg. Where are you going to? Right now, we are looking for a house in Aruba (see extra post).

Hi Karin and welcome. Currently you can spend 6 months in a calendar year on the island...I 'believe' that is the number for all tourists but it may be different for a citizen of Germany. Applying for 'residency papers' has many hoops including you will need to show you have sufficient income. You will need additional papers in order to get a work permit here. The immigration office 'Dimas' appears to be barely functioning. This is a quick overview. I suggest you move forward with caution. Not sure where the wedding will be. He is from Bonn and she is from Koblenz and they are living and working in Frankfurt. We did a Rhine River cruise a few years ago and loved the area.

As far as finding a home in Aruba, you will need to find a good relator. We own a condo. We we searched, we looked at all a lot of different realtors and set up appointments with different ones.
