    surprise ideas

    Hello Everyone

We are leaving for Aruba in about a week and a half. This is the 4th trip for my husband and myself, 2nd for our daughters. The girls have no idea that we are going- we are going to tell them the day before!! Any suggestions to surprise them with the news would be appreciated. They are 14 and 16. Thanks so much

Halloween. On the way to school, or during breakfast? We leave the next morning.

i dunno about telling them on the way to school... it may distract and disrupt their entire school day, even if you tell them at breakfast it may distract ........if they go out trick or treating you could put a candy bar with a drawing or card of palm tree as a clue

Put some sunscreen in a trick or treat bag.

Maybe a scavenger hunt with clues that lead them to their suitcase with a note about the trip?

I'd tell them that you're driving them to school in the morning, have the bags packed and in the car and then just detour to the airport. Hilarity ensues!

    Welcome to the posting side

I would bring out pictures of the last trip and reminisce. Talk about things you did on the island and just casually say "let's go back...like TOMORROW!"

    Or

Print the itinerary with their names on it and just casually hand it to them saying Oh, I totally forgot to give this to you and let them read.

How old? Can you pack without them noticing? I would just tell them about a surprise, put them in the car, drive to the airport and tell them then. I did that once and had a little quiz for the ride to the airport. Agreed that telling them before school would distract them during the school day.

    and maybe a 55th b-day in Aruba, Feb, 2020
