Definitely at breakfast before the last day of school so they can tell their friends. Give them breakfast and then hand them their passports and plane tickets in a Halloween card. If they are like my grandkids, they will scream and holler.

Tell them at breakfast. You've got to tell them anyway, so let them have their fun at school with their friends before leaving. The distracted school day won't be that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. And please tell us about your trip and the girls reaction when you get there.

If they aren't cutting any school days.... can you get the news incorporated into the closing announcements..? Do end of day announcements still happen at schools..?

    I would tell them NOW!

The anticipation is such a big part of the fun, IMO. It's like waiting for Christmas.

Furthermore, maybe they also want to think about what they want to take on the trip: which book, which bikini or bathing suit, which clothes etc.

They want to tell their friends and be all excited! Making sure they have their contact info if they want to get in touch with them while in Aruba.

Telling them in the last minute (just a day before) might even be kind of stressful. Not much time to prepare.

    Those are just my thoughts.

OMG...one will have such a hard time choosing how; from all the excellent ideas. Too bad that one cannot incorporate all of them...unrealistic, of course, but I am sure you will select the way and they will be thrilled...

So.... we r here. We did surprise them at breakfast. My 14 freaked out! My 16 year old was happy but worried about school until I told her that I had sorted it all out with her teachers. Leaving saturday night but great weather, looking forward to coming back in march!! Thanks for all of the ideas.
