I am going to throw this out there re: all-inclusive. As a couple just starting out, we were on a tight budget for our first trip and chose All Inclusive. The meals were a little disappointing and the cost of the hotel was obviously more, but we weren't in a position to spend freely on food and drinks so we had peace of mind knowing that those costs were covered ahead of time. After the expenses of a wedding, sometimes its nice to know exactly what you will be spending without worrying about food and drinks. Aruba can be done on a budget, but it takes a little work if you like to enjoy drinks but need to watch your spending - by work I mean a trip to the grocery store, preparing some meals, seeking out happy hours, planning out early bird dinners, etc. For your honeymoon, you may decide all inclusive is what you are looking for just to relax and not have to worry about anything. The shock for us was that all inclusive doesn't mean all the brands you actually like are included, beers tend to be limited to local brands and/or draft.

Since 1980, and throughout the many changes, we still love going downtown in Oranjestad.

    Hi again,

Tracey is absolutely right, and I did forget about the financial aspect about Aruba. Aruba is, in two words, not cheap. It can be done on a budget but only with a bit of planning and effort. For newlyweds, after the expense of the wedding, saving a florin here and there would help stretch the Aruba experience.

If they are anything like the rest of us, don't worry, they'll be back.

As a wedding gift to our friend's daughter, we gave them the use of our condo for a week and a relative gave them airline points so their airfare was covered. They were thrilled and it turned out to be their dream honeymoon. They loved Aruba-dining at restaurants on the beach, swimming, boating etc. and want to go back.

    Hi Chris!

Congrats on your honeymoon choice & welcome to the Community Forum!

Our first trip to Aruba was our honeymoon back in 1998 and have been in love with the island ever since. We have not experienced the sand blasting either. There is a pretty consistent trade wind, thankfully, since it would be too hot to sit on the beach most days.
