Hi Lisa, I just spoke to Audrey, the person who manages the beach activities for this vendor. They don’t take reservations except for repeat customers, especially during peak season as it is now. During slower seasons it isn’t an issue to get an umbrella. By the way, we have 4 chaise lounges and 2 straight back chairs under the umbrella as it’s about the size of a palapas.

thanks for sending me the photos pop pop

    beautiful photos!
the baby is wonderful...oh those cheeks
i absolutely love the marina photo.

again, feel free to send photos to me.
I do get them immediately, but prefer posting them using my laptop and often times I am not back at my laptop til late afternoon or evening.

    more questions.........really sorry

the umbrellas are placed at the water's edge and the folks in the front row fixed palapas........do they get upset that their front row fixed area takes a backseat to the vendor umbrellas?

do the drones need any kind of approval to be flight bound?

Hubby won a $900.00+ drone at his Xmas party. I think this is a little out of our league. It is still in box not opened. I thought I read they were not permitted in some areas of Aruba?

No issue with operating the drone today. No one bothered us and no incidents.

The other guests at Surf Club don’t voice any complaints about the umbrellas in front of them by the water.

Not trying to stir anything up, but maybe the guests are more vocal in April/May. We heard several folks mention they thought it was wrong. Myself, I could care less. I'm just glad the other resorts don't allow it or you wouldn't be able to walk down the beach. Now those drone pictures were fabulous, its cool to see everything from a different perspective. Please post more if you can.

In fact today some Surf club guests have put chairs in front of us, even closer to the water. I don’t really care. If they want to bake all day in the sun, that’s their choice. Beautiful sunny very breezy aruba day today. Yesterday was mostly cloudy and not as windy and cooler than most Aruba days but no rain.

We will do another drone flight on a less windy day. Adam will record a video that we will post. I have another story about something that happened yesterday that is very serious but I will post it on a separate thread. All are OK but it involves the reality of medical care in a place like Aruba.
will update the trip report later.

Sorry for missing a day and this long update...

Monday, we had a change in plans for dinner due to our injury incident (see separate posting in Aruba General Forum). Instead of keeping our reservation at Casa Nonna (since 2 in our party were tied up at the hospital) at the Ritz Carlton, we went to Pearla di Italia. So here is the deal with this restaurant…it is actually part of La Braise, the French poultry and prime rib restaurant at the Cove Mall. They share the large outdoor seating area and inside restaurant. The menu is two sided…one side with the Italian dishes and the other side with the French Rotisserie menu. You can order from either menu at the restaurant. The night we were there, more people seemed to be eating Italian. I did go inside and looked at the rotisserie chickens in the large display area and they looked awesome.
We ate from the Italian menu. The food was good and the pizzas were interesting combinations and tasty and crisp. The pizzas are bar size so we ordered two and shared. The entrees were good but not particularly large. The value for the money was only fair. Overall, I would rate it a couple of steps below some of our favorite Italian restaurants in Aruba such as Gianni’s and Sole Mare.

On Tuesday, we had a beautiful typical Aruba Beach day. We took some great pictures with the family in the ocean, including with our grandson Dylan (5 months old) who loved the ocean. After lunch at the Surf Club, we spent much of the afternoon at the pool area. There, I took my granddaughters to the water slide where the older one, Emory, age 7 went down the slide over and over again. Little sister Sienna, age 5 wasn’t willing to go down by herself, she only wanted to go down with pop pop. So we went down together several times and after some more encouraging her (and getting her floaties) she finally went down alone…and she loved it! Then she went again and again… with me waiting at the bottom to greet her each time, for about an hour straight. I was water logged by the time she finally agreed to get out. She was very proud of herself and was sooo happy! What a great day at the pool and ocean!

Tonight, the kids went to the Surf Club kids club for dinner and games and a movie from 6pm-9pm. The rest of us (including Baby Dylan) went out for dinner to Quinta Del Carmen. It was a beautiful night, delightful breeze and a great table right behind the house. We took some great couples and family pictures outside on the grounds in front of the restaurant before dinner too. The meal was delicious and the service excellent. Many of us share salads and entrees and they split everything in the kitchen and bring it out on individual plates. This continues to be one of our favorite restaurants on the Island.
When we got back to the Surf Club, we sat outside and listened to a musician (trumpet player/ singer, etc.) who was performing at the Compass lounge. He was excellent and there was hardly anyone there to enjoy this talented musician. He appreciated the tips we put in his jar before we left.

I went to the Stellaris Casino and played blackjack there for almost two hours. Lost about $70 after being down much more. I did have a celebrity sighting at the casino (we were tipped off by our dealer). Tyrone Lu, the former coach of the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers was at the craps table. There was a loud boisterous crowd around the table but I doubt that most knew who he was. Surprising to me, he was NOT wearing his NBA championship ring. He obviously knew how to play the game and was joking with and interacting with the croupiers and the other gamblers. I'm not a craps player so I didn't join the table. I took the shuttle back to the Lighthouse tower and called it a night.
    More to come on Wed.
    Brian
