Day 3 12/17. Got up at 530am a half hour later than yesterday. Still that's 430am in NY! I never get up that early. Either I'm really well rested from all the sleeping I've been getting at the beach or the 6 Long Island Ice Tea I had put me in a deep restful sleep. However I woke up with sciatica on my left bum. No treadmill today. I did some stretches the doc gave me which helped a little. I wanted to walk over to bugalu for breakfast but the pain was too much. So I ended up getting coffee and a breakfast sandwich at the deli. Again the Palapa Hoggers were there again same people at 645am so I grabbed mine the same one as the previous day next to the water. Around 7:05am this young man from the Divi came around with a clip board. He wrote the Palapa number down and asked people for their room number. Some were allready unoccupied. At 905am he came back again. The Palapas that had towels, bags but no chairs were unoccupied for 2 hours so he removed their stuff to make it available to others. Around 10am this lady walks up to a Palapa asking the people there what they were doing there. Ah sunning like everybody else. Then she is asking where is her stuff and they were just confused. I hate to get involved with situations but I felt it was somebody's duty to clear the air. So I walked over and explained that Management moved her stuff an hour ago. But why? Well he timed it at 7am, came back 2 hours later and saw it was unoccupied no chairs so he removed your items. She said but that's not fair I came down at 5am to secure my Palapa and the chairs were chained up. I said Mame I'm just telling you what happened to clear these nice folks. Then her husband got on her case "I'm glad that happened you should not secure a hut that early I told you so". The folks that were at the Palapa thanked me for helping them clear the issue. I spent the rest of the day sipping rum punch, swimming, sunning and napping.

I got back to the room at 130pm still in pain. I jumped in the hot Jacuzzi for 20 minutes and it helped a lot. I relaxed, read emails. I received an email letting me know that an MRA test for the heart with the dye that I did before leaving for Aruba had an updated report. I logged on to the radiology website to read report. All good! I have a normal size heart and don't have the anuyerism they suspected when I did a CT scan of the chest in February. This all started Sep 2017 when an EKG for a physical revealed a possible enlarged heart which lead to an echocardiogram test, CT scan and now MRA with dye. There is a blood vessel dilated which is typical with high blood pressure but no enlarged heart. Man I was so relieved! This was better than winning power ball. I thought I was going to need an operation. I also did a sonogram for the kidneys last week. When I had the CT scan of the chest, it revealed small kidney stones so the doc ordered the test to take a closer look. I get that report on Thursday. Hopefully it's good!

For dinner I went to Bavaria. I did not eat lunch so I was starving! I had the potatoes pancakes with Apple sauce. The give you 4 large servings which is enough for 2 people to share. But I was starving and had no problems eating them with a German beer or two. I had a pilsner which was light and refreshing. Next I had the Weiner Schnitzel. I love love the spatzel it comes with. One time I had a schnitzel at Chalet Suisse and I asked if I could have spatzel with it and they said sure
$5 extra. It tasted like stove top stuffing mix. At Bavaria you get the real deal! For dessert I had the apple strudels with vanilla ice cream. I said to Peter the owner, I've had Apple Strudels in so many restaurants in Aruba and they were good but this is amazing! He smile and said yes because it's fresh and everything there is fresh and made to order. Great 3 course dinner at a reasonable price. They are so welcoming and make you feel like a guess at their home.

Well this concludes my third lazy day!

It’s great to hear about your good test results!! your dinner sounds like it was amazing.

kudos to divi enforcing the palapa rules. It’s so obnoxious to hog a palapa when you’re not using it.

    great trip report!

Be sure to drink lots and lots of water to help with that kidney stone. That could cause pain in your back too.
We love a good beach day!
    Always planning our next trip

Ace, so glad you made it and are enjoying yourself. Receiving good news from your MRI must have been a relief. You have had a lot to deal with lately. The red tape for Miss Daisy is very unsettling. Hopefully you wil get this taken care of very soon. You and your family are doing a great job seeing that Miss Daisy is cared for. Please rest and relax and have a good vacation. I look forward to more reports.

It is good to hear good test results. I know that is a relief. I also know how bad that sciatic pain can be-I had a herniated disc and finally had surgery on it after dealing with it for 7 months(workman's comp insurance in 1999). I'd like to say drinking helps, but it didn't. Maybe if it continues you can find a chiropractor on the island.

I love the palapa story. I hate people who do just that.

One year in the airport(waiting to board in the US) there was a group of about 12 people from one family. The grandfather(?) pulled out a deck of what looked like cards. Each card had a date on it. All the adults picked the a card, and that was their day to go down at 5 am to secure chairs/palapas at one of the Marriott properties. SMH

Enjoying your "lazy" beach days trip report. If you are still hurting, do as Andrea suggested and get a massage. I was impressed with the one I had at the Divi Phoenix spa and very reasonable price. Looking forward to more reports.

Always nice to hear good news about scans! I found it hard to be on vacation when waiting on test results, glad to hear your results were good.
