    May 7 Friday

Our first full day on the island was great.
I was out at the pool by 7 am and it seems as if the 7am start for a great spot is still too early.
Paul will go out tomorrow at 8.

We spent the morning and early afternoon in the pool or under an umbrella.
It was a breezy and kind of hazy day. Later in the afternoon the sun was blazing.

We made a quick run to SuperFood to pick up some gouda that we had forgotten yesterday and their selection is pretty good.
We got a wedge of old Amsterdam and Paul found his Vermont cheddar.

We stopped over to visit Bully and family.
He is recovering from eye surgery and he is anxious to get feeling 100% soon.
He will have another laser procedure on Wednesday and then another few weeks of rest.

Dinner was at Hung Paradise and Walt and Pam joined us.
Dinner was delicious and it was nice to see old friends.
Forum member Mafalda (Mariza) stopped by to say hello.
Her husband Johnson, was selling his paintings at the art exhibit there.

Alhambra was more generous to us tonight, and we are now even.
At 9:30 they made the announcement to get out……….the street lights are on and if we did not get out I supposed we would be turned into pumpkins.

Tomorrow is going to be a pool day with a stroll over to the beach for an hour or 2 of floating.

    Sounds perfect.
The best trip is the next trip. Anxiously waiting to book something.

What is Old Amsterdam cheese like? I know you have mentioned it before. Is it that kind of darker almost yellow cheese with veins of bleu!

Glad to hear that Alhambra was good to you. Any new slot machines?

Yes Jay, she told us last night she’s arranging her vacation around your July trip. She and her husband are going to visit family in the Dominican republic sometime in July

Thats nuts! I will take great care of her....she is like family to me. Not many people I would trust our son with. Edit- my wife says we need to send her a message and tell her not to worry about us and I 100% agree! Sending it now.

Message sent. Mariza is just amazing. To even think about altering things for a day to help us out is nuts....I told her to PLEASE not worry about us- we miss her but will be back in Feb. If it works out and she is there....we would love to have her be with CJ. She is great with him. She takes him bowling, to the arcade etc... and we trust her so much.

    Saturday May 8

Today was glorious…lots of sun again and the few clouds were welcomed relief.
The winds were steady and pleasant, not overbearing.

Paul got to the pool at 8 and secured us a great spot.

We spent an hour in the ocean and then came back and made camp poolside for the duration.
I went to the room, put together a lunch and 2 large RTIC cups of coconut rum-pineapple juice and cranberry juice.

More time in the pool and by 3 pm our sorry bums were dragging.
Back to the room for showers and a quick nap.

We made another delivery of Amazon stuff……….yes, we are Amazon and Michael’s “Mules”

Then to Bavaria for a great dinner of chicken schnitzel, spaetzle and cucumber salad.
I asked Peter, (the owner) if he was going to put white asparagus on the menu sometime over the next 10 days. He said the price of white asparagus is ridiculous and he just cannot spend the $ for it. I get it. I am going to buy some tomorrow and will serve it for dinner tomorrow with some tenderloins that are marinating. He reminded me that the black forest cake that is my favorite will be baked Monday morning, so come by Monday at 5 for a to go order.
(I do not know how many ww points are in it, but it is my favorite.)
Peter told us that they are finally at about 70% of where they were in May 2019.
He told us that things were picking up and that March was a very good month.

Alhambra was kind to us tonight.
Paul and I both played machines 88 fortunes (Peg’s machines) and I hit a good chunk on a bonus round. I took the $ and buried it deep in the safe and it will be used towards our Dec airfare. Paul was playing for a while and I kept handing him $50s until I said NO more. He did finish even on the night and I did get paid back.

We stopped at the LaCabana Glitz casino where we each made a small donation. The place was packed.

Our older grandson lost his first tooth today so that really made our day…………thank God for facetime. Grandson #2 spent the day missing tee ball with a stomach bug.

2 people came up to me at the pool and said hi Andrea.
It was a husband and wife out for a walk.
I said hello and before I could ask their names, they were back to their walk.

    Bed time.
It is my turn to grab the ideal pool spot at 8 am.
I will try to post tonight dinner photo, if unsuccessful, I will ask Peg to do it.

I added the food photo to the link signature line
