I should have thought about this yesterday, but if you need a place to hang out between check out and getting to the airport, you are welcome to come here. If not, have a safe trip home.

I've been reading all the posts on this forum gearing up for my 2 weeks in late May. I am one of the ones who lost spouse. We used to come every year since the early 90's and eventually spent February thru September at Costa Linda until family issues caused us to stay in Florida. We still, of course, spent a couple of weeks in our home away from home. My husband died in late 2018 and I spread his ashes in the ocean at Costa Linda in May of 2019. I had decided to sell my last 3 weeks but had renters for 2020. We all know how that turned out and yes, I returned their money. Now that the casinos are smoke free (I love to play) and I've had the vaccine I'm ready to see what it's like to be there all alone. I've gotten excited about going back after reading this forum so thank you all!

Sorry for your loss too. Get here and remember the good times. You have frinds here. Today was great untill 1:30, we had to leave. After checkout you can stay the day, so no worries. No lines at airport. They scared us to come early due to covid. Luckily we are in V.I.P lounge with free drinks and mini sanwiches and soup. Very relaxing time. We already miss Aruba. Hans at Tropic was cool we brought car back a little late, no extra charge. A drink at the Padock was our last stop. We swam today and hit the pool. It was super dead today. We were offered a free week from a friend at ABC , they couldnt rent it. Tempting but not realistic. Again best vacation ever. We really needed it. Now back to reality. It is safer here than at home. We are very sad to leave. Many thanks to Stu and Robin for their hospitality.

I am glad that your husband's remains are in the sea at Costa Linda.

Yes the casinos are smoke free and it is wonderful.
You would not believe how clean they are keeping the casinos...a real good job.

    Be well Linda.

Well we are home and its freezing. We truly miss Aruba. We got to swim in the sea till 1pm last day here. Nice! Our trip to the airport we uneventful. Hans from Tropic was kind enough to waive fee for us for being very late with car return. We got to airport way too early. They said extra covid step would add time, but it didnt. But we enjoyed our time trying out both V.I.P lounges. Free drinks and sandwiches and soup and private bathroom. Nice relaxing time. About 25 people on our 5:10 flight to Newark. We were able to both lay down on own row each. We fell asleep and were woken up on our decent home! That was great!
Next year, 1/2 the amount of clothes again and double the $$.
I got my 2nd vaccine when I got home and did suffer some pain and fatigue. But it was worth it. 4 Bingo wins at resort was such a surprise. We realize this covid made Aruba a special place due to lack of crowds. I guess thats what it felt like in the early days of Aruba. All the worries about doule testing and safety were for nothing. Do get a mask strap to keep a mask at the ready. The wind will blow it away otherwise. Do come to Aruba, we all need a covid break! If we had the time we would come back right now. Best vacation ever.
