Aruba Bound

We arrived in Aruba yesterday from Chicago with a connection through IAD. Our plane into Aruba was half hour late but we still arrived at 4:30. Our plane was the only one that was arriving at that time so social distancing getting through the airport was no issue. Of course per Andrea's instructions we did not look at any of the people in the departure area. lol We did stop at the duty free. Last year that was the only area that was crowded this year it was empty. Only a few on our plane stopped to buy. So I was wondering if they are new to the island and don't realize the larger tax on boose outside of the airport or maybe don't drink or going to all inclusive. But we got ours And on our way. We stop and had a drink at the renassance hotel went to the casino and won a little money. Then we headed to Pincho's. We weren't that hungry since we ate on the plane, but was hoping to get an appetizer. We were excited to find out they opened their bar open again and brought the bar menu of apps back. They did not have it last year. We had their grilled shrimp and tenderloin skewers. They were really good. Called it an early night since we were up since 3am.

Love the new news for aruba entry since we are both vac and boosted. Would have loved not to have dealt with that addditional stress.

Andrea, it was great having the only plane landing at that time, especially since we had the first seats. So we were off the plane and through customs real quickly.

Today was a lazy day to recover from traveling yesterday. Headed to Lucy's downtown for a nice lunch sitting by the water. I had ordered diet coke for my drink since I always tend to overdo things on my first night in Aruba. I am a picky diet coke drinker and when it arrived it tasted like diet pepsi. But it would do. We then headed to the renassaince casino to lose some money. And then went to the downtown grocery store. They have really cleaned up the store and it only have another couple in there shopping. Could not locate any diet coke and found out that even though Aruba has a Coke company on the island they are only producing Coke zero. So that made sense why my soda did not taste right at lunch.

Decided to walk the beach to Surfside restaurant on the beach for dinner, but decided to stop for a drink at Pinchos and then ended up eating there again tonight. We wanted a dessert to share but the server talked us in for one each. Should have shared, but they were both really good. A couple years ago they built a couple parking lot bars across from Talk of the town which is mostly all locals, but we find it fun to stop in and they are always to welcoming. That is what we love above Aruba. Another great day!

We love stopping at Lucy’s for appetizers and people watching. Like you, we often head over to the casino from there.
