I have to assume that you take taxis around the island when you head out to dinner or to the Glitz.
Have the drivers talked about the road conditions to you and Patti? Have they talked abut when completion is predicted?

Great 4th hanging on the beach with lunch at (you guessed it) Pega Pega. Yesterday was a 3 Bright lunch so...... lots of naps, lots of wind,
    sunshine and
finished up "The Poacher's Son" by Paul Doiron who's the Editor in Chief of Maine's "Down East" magazine. It was a great read.....especially for his first novel. Patti walked to Amsterdam Manor twice and down Divi way once. She's guessing she's averaging 6 miles a day.....while I average 2 hours of naps a day!

Had dinner at Papiamento's last night... and sat poolside. The restaurant is quite dated and could use some attention to detail. The chairs were plastic patio chairs covered in that fabric you see for events.... and the menu was totally home made.... I mean like copier stock in document protectors. It was also hard to follow because of the set up. On the plus side, service and food were excellent and the setting was very romantic for my girl. We toured the inside dining rooms (antique store musty smell!) and it was an amazing old dwelling. Lotsa history there!

Grabbed a cab to the Hyatt for the fireworks and as we walked down to the beach a few minutes before nine, they started to go off. We were in a perfect spot about 50 yards from the launching...… quite intense display, lasted for 10 minutes of non-stop discharge after discharge and Patti said it was the best she had ever seen.

Off to the Alhambra for some ups and downs at the tables (just couldn't get a good seat) and video poker (just couldn't get a generous machine) ..... the casino gods dumped on me last night for a few hundred bucks..... and I was home by 1:00.

    Beach...… bye bye.....!

Always by cab. A couple of drivers thinking November.... and one of those has doubts.... had a couple of drivers actually leave the road and take short cuts to the next road...… I mean off-road like sand and ruts and potholes....!

Thought we had a turtle hatching in the making. Patti found a couple of quarter sized holes in the nest area and a couple of small depressions.... but all back to normal today...… so the waiting and hoping continues.

Dinner at Chophouse last night.... perfect.... it's what a good restaurant should be. Harold was our waiter and is always the charmer....! Ribeye for me and a nice filet for Patti. We had a drink coupon for a coupla Mojitos and we didn't notice that we were charged for the drinks......anyway, right after I went out last night there was a knocking on the door.... "I have something for you"..... Patti wouldn't answer the door.... so the restaurant called and left the refund at the desk to pick up this morning. Nice touch!.... and smart wife!

Over to Alhambra where I found a quick good seat at a blackjack table and had a 700 run in about an hour.... so I cashed out and considered going home.... which isn't my nature.... so I made the rounds and gave it all back to various video poker machines and a couple of blackjack tables..... left a couple of hundred down....

The weather has been fantastic except for some sand blasting winds yesterday afternoon.... and the winds seem strong this morning.... still great to be here!
