Monday night, dinner at Quinta Del Carmen. Still our favorite restaurant in Aruba and even more so tonight after seeing how well they handled the Islands Covid Protocols:
    - gave us a Covid tracing card to fill out upon seating. In case there are reports of anyone there tonight that is positive with Covid they will contact us!
    - sat our party of 5 at 2 tables side by side, my wife and I at one and Brian, Cheryl and Jack at the other. Very comfortable and not awkward in any way to enjoy having dinner together
    - all other groups more than 4 were seated in this same manner
    - tables of other diners were still well spaced apart, more than 1.5 meter rules.
I tried posting photos but not sure if it worked. Andrea, let me know what I need to do to post photos from my iPad or iPhone.

Dinner was excellent and service was professional , friendly and well paced. Finished with the Stroopwaffle Parfait, always our favorite here.

got back to the Surf Club and we took a walk to the Marriott Stellaris hotel. So weird seeing the casino empty/ closed after 8:40 posted closing time. The lobby was packed however with an entertainer playing music. Most people in this area were sitting at couches with tables drinking and we’re not wearing masks.

got back to the Surf Club and called it a night. We’re going to Linda’s Dutch Pancakes for breakfast tomorrow morning.

    good night all.

Pop Pop Brian and Ann and friends at the far table. DVG tracing info card.

Ha love it! Not sure I would be paying for my breakfast with Bitcoin but pretty cool. Pretty sure nobody will take them up on the bitcoin offer but I could be wrong.

Jay, I completely agree about the use of Bitcoin to pay for breakfast. I had a nice chat with Stephan the owner about Bitcoin. He has been accepting it there since 2014. He remembered back then someone paying for a $40 breakfast with .25 bitcoins. That breakfast 7 years later is worth almost $15k to Stephan. He’s happy to accept Bitcoin and offer a discount for paying that way.
I did it for the novelty of my first Bitcoin purchase. Very cool.

Linda’s Dutch pancakes was great! My wife and I shared an omelet and the bacon apple pancake.

LOVE it. I know you payed with Satoshi's and its pretty cool to be able to do so. Welcome to the the "new" world paying with coins....I won't get started on my coin- which will be the king/queen of all coins soon as Bitcoin costs to much to use for most everyday transactions.... I will go there and chat with Stephan just for fun....us crypto nerds will enjoy talking crypto regardless of where we are, lol.

How did it work? Just transfer to his wallet?

Tuesday 3/30- after breakfast at Linda’s we came back and spent the day at the beach. So glad we reserved an umbrella at Vanessa as the beach palapas and pool at the Surf Club are packed! The Captains Galley has a neat service where you can send a text to them to have a waiter/ waitress come to you on the beach to take your food and drink orders. This worked out well and the service was good.

Before dinner tonight, we went to the Hilton and gambled for a little while at the casino there. It’s kinda sad how empty the casino is (although I don’t really feel bad for the casino, just for the dealers and workers there who are not making a lot in tips).
We ate dinner at the Sunset Grill there and it was excellent. THey put our party of 5 at 2 tables (3 and 2) right next to each other in a great spot on the outdoor patio.
We left about 9 pm and traffic going in the opposite direction than we were heading back was terrible. They are taking this 10pm curfew seriously here.

update on our Aruba entrance Covid test which we had paid for but didn’t need to take due to getting our negative test results back in time to bring them with us to Aruba. We applied for a refund last night for the fees ($75 each) and today got confirmation that the refund was processed and would hit our credit card in a couple of days. Very impressed with the speed of that credit.
we can now take either test ( will probably take the antigen test) here at the Surf Club on Friday for our Sunday trip home.

    Will report more tomorrow.

jay, yes, very simple. I opened my app and he gave me his QR code for his wallet on his phone. I scanned the QR code and it previewed the transfer showing how many Satoshis including transaction fees and total $ of transaction. Whole thing took less than a minute. You should definitely chat him up about it when you’re here.

Thanks Brian! I can imagine it was enjoyable just as a "vision" of what tomorrow will look like.

Jay, exactly. He also told me that making payments outside Aruba is now forbidden thru banks due to capital requirements here. People are coming to him to use Bitcoin for commerce outside of Aruba! A new world!

I am pleased to read that the last 2 evenings the restaurants seated you according to protocols.

Glad that you received the refund!!

Thanks for sharing your stay with us.
