    COSTA LINDA beginning 8/26

We made it! 25+ years and 50+ visits Aruba never fails to reveal her magic. Back on the beach with a fruity drink it’s like we never left (or missed a year which we did in 2020).

Flight to Aruba from JFK on Delta couldn’t have been better. 30 minutes from check-in to gate!

Excellent at CL as always. They aren’t anywhere near high occupancy rates. Plenty of places on the beach. Have taken a few walks on the beach and visited friends at La Quinta. The new pedestrian strip along the road is just great. We’ve had a couple of very nice morning walks so far, people walking, bicycling, jogging… great going and congratulations to Aruba for adding this for its citizens and tourists.

Ate at Water’s Edge Thursday night. Red snapper and Ahi tuna. Both excellent.

Friday night at the the Sugargarden in Oranjestad. Highly recommend for lovely ambience, great menu with several price options. You’ll find mostly local folks here. Suikertuin Bistro on Wilhelmstraat is a full service restaurant open for breakfast and lunch as well. We had pork loin chop and grouper! OMG dutch apple pie.

Saturday night, dinner with local friends at a new restaurant downtown on the harbor. Lima Bistro, Peruvian fusion. Beautiful dining room and harbor views. Amberjack fish cooked to perfection and Tuna steak outstanding! Loved it and will return.

Also new on the block, we went to The Brownstone at the Alhambra Plaza. Young, upbeat, great ribs!! Grouper !! Outstanding. Don’t miss it.

Tonight we visited an old favorite, Bingo’s. Casual, Dutch owned with great menu and prices. We almost always run into local friends here and tonight was no exception. Had Coconut shrimp and Grouper entree. Super!

On our way back to Costa Linda stopped at Quinta del Carmen and Screaming Eagle to make reservations for Wednesday and Thursday.

Tomorrow Twist of Flavors. Love this place too.

We live in midtown Manhattan and naturally have many, many dining options. Aruba though with its great people, beaches and weather plus it’s great restaurants, keep us coming back again and again.

I’ll try to update again in a few days….

Nice. Great that the occupancy is low at Costa Linda. You have the place to yourself. Is it like that at Restaurants, downtown etc? Enjoy your vacation..

Great start to your trip report. Your meals thus far sound delicious (making me hungry).
I hope the adventures and smiles (and culinary delights) continue throughout the week.

We’ve only been to Sugargarden downtown for a birthday celebration and Lima Bistro. I’d recommend reservations for Lima. We still have Wilhelminas and Yemanja downtown and think we’ll make reservations.

We’ve begun our second week at Costa Linda and are deep into vacation head. Not crowded at all. Lots of time in the water sharing with Pelicans which of course we love. We’ve visited with old friends from La Quinta and several of our local friends. Made friends with a nice bunch of people too.

We went to Bingos twice so far and enjoyed it as always. There were a good number of diners. we had our favorite carpaccio and grouper dish. Going again this week with good friends from NH.

Returned to Screaming Eagle. New management but much of the same staff in the kitchen. They are currently under construction in the dining room but they have created a beautiful outdoor space. Very cool and contemporary. Service and food were excellent.

More to come this week. We were really fortunate to get a banked week we had with LaQuinta. We had missed our reservation for week 33 but we’re able to tag it on once we leave Costa Linda on Friday. We’re so happy this worked out.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Will post again next week.

    Doug
