I’m so glad Magaly is still there. She’s one of my favorites. Surprised that there aren’t any turtle nests though. Hope to some day witness a hatching!

Sorry you missed our boring beach day yesterday..... lunch again at Pega Pega. On the fourth we had a delightful dinner at Pincho's. I booked on line for 7pm but they came back with 6 and I accepted anyway. Actually 6 was a great time as the restaurant filled up quickly, we had great seats and we still got to see the sunset.... not photo worthy.... but hell, any sunset in Aruba is a joy. This was our third visit and really enjoyed it. Service was good, wind strong and the food good.

    Alhambra spanked me again......'nuf said....

Dinner last night was at Texas de Brazil and they still honor the veteran's discount.... proof from driver license. Salad bar was fantastic and the meats just OK... not as good as I remember in the past, but Patti really enjoyed her meal!

Oops! DW just texted..... meeting her at Pega Pega for lunch... hope more for you later!

Not a boring beach report at all! I check the Manchebo web cam a few times a day and the weather looks great. We didn’t see any spectacular sunsets last month either, but any sunset in Aruba is fine with us. We loved getting lunch at Pega Pega too! Sorry the casino has not been kind. You still have time!

Enjoy and keep the trip reports coming!

Back with you.... Patti's gone for her 80 minute massage..... "hope they don't rub her the wrong way"...... sorry... had to do that! I'm back in the room catching up a bit here and with work. Spent another day on the beach with lunch at Pega Pega. If I'm ever labeled as a 'bar fly'..... I hope is for Pega Pega. Nascio was working today.... so he's always a real treat to hang with. And he really does a good job loosening up the other folks. The wind has settled down a lot and the sun has been wonderful with some welcome interruption from the clouds. Victor tells me the hotel is at about 75% occupany, but the beach feels like less.

I just made last minute reservations for Quinta del Carmen which I'm hoping will please DW.... we've been 3 or 4 times in the past and always enjoy it....plus it's a romantice setting by Patti's standards... so it should be a win in the brownie point pool. I'll let you know tomorrow.

We saw a wedding at Bucceti this morning.... no guests, just the couple and photographer and the person that officiated. 3 or 4 years ago we saw 5 weddings an Manchebo in our 10ish days here.... but nothing this year yet or last year. I always enjoyed seeing the young people all dressed up and begging to get into something more comfortable.

I'm thinking the Casino Gods aren't PO'ed at me any more. I scored 4 dueces at video poker for 1000 and that put me back in the black for the trip. I've had a couple of tough nights since we've been here this time. I was in bed at 11 last night and haven't been out beyond midnigt at all this year. Guess I'm really slowing down. Dunno what tonight will bring....

Sounds wonderful. Enjoy Quinta del Carmen. I would like to try their tapas garden but still have to show my husband the menu. He is more fussy than me. How long will you be in Aruba? Hope the time goes slowly but I know it never does!

Nice win on the video poker!
I’m of the same opinion as you are about occupancy here. Usually the pool chairs at the Ocean Club are gone well before 9 am. This morning there were still a good number available. Ditto for the palapas. Maybe not in the first 3 rows but there’s plenty for the taking rows 4 and back. There also isn’t a ton a school aged kids here. Don’t get me wrong, there are children but not the numbers I’ve seen in years past. Could it be the obscene airfares that are contributing to this?

Actually a few kids here now.... but no 'screamers'...... pretty well behaved. You can get a front row palapa here well beyond 10 in the morning... but I'm still on the beach by 8 every morning.... just love hanging there.

I think that the obscene airfares are a major contribution to lower numbers.

CP I hope your luck continues.

I believe it’s the outrageous airfares that are affecting air travel.. I’ve booked Manchebo for our anniversary in Nov. I check airfare every day a few times. It’s almost at a price I can live with, and my husband says just book it. It’s still more than we paid in June. I’ve decided it’s crazy for us to get to JFK since we are only 30. min. from Newark. We talked about it tonight and at this stage of our lives we love flying business class and don’t want to go back to economy. We’re not snobs and by no means wealthy but at our age we like the comfort and perks (. Not weighing our luggage ) of business class. Airfare is crazy right now and I wonder if it will ever level off.
